Cowboys vs. Bears Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction

The Chicago Bears continue the search for their first win of the season and their first victory on home turf in over 11 months when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon in NFL Week 3 betting action at Soldier Field. The bears limp home after suffering a 52-21 beating in Detroit last weekend and have now fallen to defeat in 12 of their past 13 overall contests. The Cowboys arrive in the Windy City on a high after outlasting the New York Giants in a 40-37 win in Week 2 but have failed to follow up a home win with a victory on the road since the 2023 season.

The Cowboys have emerged as slim 1-point favourites on the NFL Week 3 odds. The Bears are pegged as a -105 bet on the NFL moneyline and the total is listed at 50.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday’s matchup marks the first meeting between these squads since 2022 and the Cowboys’ first visit to Soldier Field since 2019. Dallas has earned the win in three of four dates with the bears, capped by a decisive 49-29 home victory almost three years ago but have fallen to defeat in five of their past seven road dates with Chicago. Historically, clashes between these squads have been high scoring, with the OVER paying out in each of their past eight tilts and the total reaching at least 55 in four of their past five contests. Recent head-to-head dates have also tended to be one-sided, with 13 of the past 15 matchups getting settled by double-digit margins.

Neither of these teams have inspired much confidence at the sportsbooks so far this season. The Bears have failed to cover in their first two outings including a brutal 27-24 home loss to Minnesota as 1-point underdogs and sport a 4-8-1 ATS record in their past 13 games. Dallas has done marginally better, going 4-3 ATS in their past seven, but has won and covered in four of five when favoured on the road by three or fewer points.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys needed to erase deficits four times and go to overtime before finally getting past the Giants in last week’s 40-37 win. While the win was welcome, it was far from confidence inspiring, coming against New York squad still trying to reinvent itself after a dismal 2024 campaign. Indeed, it was bad decision on the part of the Giants that provided the Cowboys with a chance on an afternoon when Dak Prescott racked up 361 passing yards and two scores but tossed a pick, got sacked three times, and almost gave away the game before recovering his own fumble in overtime.

Prescott may not be so lucky against a Bears pass defence looking to atone for last week’s brutal performance, but which has thrived at home, which has limited opposing pivots to just 226.9 passing yards per game while recording 16 sacks over the past seven home dates. With rain in the forecast for Sunday, there is value in fading Prescott on the NFL player props, where he is an attractive +105 bet to toss UNDER 1.5 TD passes.

Chicago Bears

If the Bears are going to overcome their continued woes, they will first have to get over an injury bug that has limited or kept nine players out of practice this week. Among the most notable absentees has been running back D’Andre Swift, who is questionable with a quad injury. He has been officially limited in two practices so far this week.

It was already a tough start to the season for Swift, who has compiled 116 rushing yards with one touchdown on 29 carries through two games. In addition to making Swift a risky -118 bet to rush for OVER 56.5, his injury and early-season woes could open the door for rookie Kyle Monangai to get more touches. With the inclement weather, it could mean also mean more carries for quarterback Caleb Williams, who compiled 58 rushing yards and one scoring run versus the Vikings and offers solid value as a -115 wager to record OVER 27.5 rushing yards.
