Commanders vs. Vikings Point Spread: NFL Week 14 Odds, Prediction

Both teams are way out of playoff contention in the NFC, albeit not quite mathematically eliminated from contention at this point in time. The Commanders come in with a 3-9 record, while the Vikings are 4-8.

Minnesota has won three straight games in the head-to-head series dating back to 2017 and is 10-4 in the last 14 overall. They have not faced each other since the 2022 campaign, when the Vikings scored a 20-17 road victory.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Washington is a disastrous 1-6 against the spread in its last seven contests. It is 1-5 ATS in its previous six road games dating back to the 2024 season. Minnesota is 0-4 ATS in its last four overall and 1-4 ATS in its previous five at home.

As for the Over/Under, the Over is 3-1 in the Commanders’ last four outings and 6-2 in the last eight head-to-head encounters. However, the Under is 4-0 in the Vikings ’ past four overall.

In addition to the more traditional lines, the NFL odds have the first-quarter spread at -0.5 in the Vikings’ favour, and the first-half spread is also -0.5. The first-quarter Over/Under is 7.5; the first-half Over/Under is 21.5.

Washington Commanders

QB Jayden Daniels reportedly has a chance – perhaps not necessarily a good one – to play this weekend. The second-year quarterback out of LSU has been sidelined since Week 9 due to a dislocated left elbow. If Daniels is unable to take the field, Marcus Mariota would get another start for Washington. Mariota has been decent in six starts this season, with 1,349 passing yards in addition to 10 touchdowns (nine passing and one rushing) and six interceptions. However, the Commanders have lost Mariota’s past five starts.

Unlike its upcoming opponent, head coach Dan Quinn’s squad has been competitive in recent appearances. They’ve dropped back-to-back overtime decisions against Miami (16-13) and Denver (27-26).

Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota may be able to score a point on Sunday. If so, it would be more than this team managed during last weekend’s 26-0 loss at Seattle. With QB Carson Wentz out for the year and QB J.J. McCarthy in concussion protocol, head coach Kevin O’Connell was forced to start QB Max Brosmer at quarterback. The undrafted rookie completed 19 of 30 attempts for 126 yards with zero touchdowns and a ridiculous 4 interceptions – one of which was returned for a touchdown. Fortunately for the Vikings, McCarthy is expected to return this week.

The Michigan product is nothing special, but he at least has slightly more NFL experience than Brosmer and will be facing a Commanders defense that is far worse than that of the Seahawks. O’Connell said on Monday that McCarthy no longer has any concussion symptoms and will likely be cleared well in advance of Sunday.

NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Commanders vs. Vikings?

McCarthy is better than Brosmer…but that’s not saying a lot. He’s been horrendous in the early stages of his professional career and is completing an anemic 54.1% of his passes with 10 interceptions and only six touchdowns.

Minnesota has lost its last two games by a combined margin of 49-6. Let’s go with Commanders 20, Vikings 16.
