Commanders vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction

Just under 11 months ago it was the 4-5 Washington Commanders handing the 8-0 Philadelphia Eagles their first defeat of the season. In Week 4 Washington gets the same opportunity, as the 2-1 Commanders travel to Philadelphia to play the unbeaten Eagles. Prior to last weekend, this tilt had the potential to feature a pair of 3-0 divisional foes, but a massive wake up call for Washington via a 37-3 loss versus Buffalo has dropped them back into possible pretender category.
Philadelphia’s coming off a shorter week, last suiting up Monday at Tampa Bay where they left with a 25-11 dub. The Eagles eclipsed 200 rushing yards for their second straight game and ended the night with a 9-minute, 22-second drive to run the clock out.
Kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field begins at 1 p.m. EDT, with the home Eagles having to cover an -8.5 spread and the total at 43.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The undefeated Eagles also come into Week 4 unbeaten against the spread. Philadelphia’s pushed in one victory while covering in their other two wins. The Commanders are 1-2 ATS on the season and 2-6 ATS over their last eight games. But the road has been better for Washington when it comes to covering — they are 5-2 ATS over their last seven road outings.
Seven of the last nine Washington–Philadelphia clashes played in Philadelphia have finished over the total. The Eagles have also seen four of their last six games against an NFC East team go over the total. Washington’s came out winners in only five of their last 16 October contests.
Washington Commanders
Chalk Week 3 up to growing pains for young quarterback Sam Howell, at least that’s what Washington’s hoping. Howell tossed four interceptions in the ugly 37-3 loss versus Buffalo, and a sad field goal in the game’s final minute avoided the complete shut out Washington. Another unit that actually got shut out? Washington’s vaunted defensive line. They failed to sack Buffalo’s Josh Allen before being pulled because his team was winning by too much.
The Commanders had combined for 10 sacks in Weeks 1 and 2, which proved to be a winning formula. They have another tough task between Philadelphia’s offensive line and run game, but the group of Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Montez Sweat, and Chase Young are all either paid to be or expected to be elite forces on the d-line.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles continue to rack up regular season wins, but they’ll be the first to tell you they have yet to play a satisfying 60 minutes yet. Jalen Hurts, who’s now 20-1 in his last 21 regular season starts at quarterback for Philadelphia, committed a pair of turnovers in the win one of which coming right at the opposition’s end zone. But none of that matters when your offence is producing 185.7 rushing yards per showing like Philadelphia.
D’Andre Swift again led the charge with 130 yards on 16 carries, now second in the NFL with 308 rushing yards on the season. Philadelphia has three of the top 42 rushers this season, as quarterback Jalen Hurts has a century mark of rushing yards and Kenneth Gainwell 97 rushing yards in two games played.
