The Commanders advanced to this season’s conference championship with last week’s stunning 45-31 upset win over the top-seeded Detroit Lions, extending their current overall win streak to seven games. The Eagles return to the NFC Championship for the second time in three years after earning a hard-fought 28-22 win over the Los Angeles Rams in last weekend’s NFC Divisional Round action and have now won four straight overall and nine straight on home turf.

The Eagles get set for a fifth straight home game perched as 6-point favourites on the NFC Championship odds. The Commanders trail as +240 underdogs on the NFL moneyline and the total is set at 47.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday afternoon’s matchup marks just the second all-time playoff meeting between these NFC East rivals and their first postseason clash Washington claimed a 20-6 Wild Card Weekend win in Philadelphia 35 years ago. This season, these teams split two games, with the Eagles tallying a 26-18 victory on home turf back in Week 11. Overall, the Eagles have topped the Commanders in 12 of their past 16 clashes including six of eight at Lincoln Financial Field. However, Washington has been the far more reliable bet, going 4-2-2 against the spread in their past eight dates with the Eagles and 4-1-2 ATS in their past seven head-to-head matchups while pegged as an underdog by five or more points including a pair of outright victories. The Commanders have also rewarded loyal NFL bettors by posting outright wins in each of their past three as underdogs including a 36-33 home win over the Eagles in Week 16 and are 5-3 SU in eight games this season as betting underdogs.

Washington Commanders

The Commanders pulled off the biggest upset of this year’s NFL playoffs with last week’s 45-31 victory in Detroit as 8-point underdogs. The squad got the job done by forcing five turnovers and consistently kept the Lions on their heels during this entertaining slugfest after seizing the lead for good early in the second quarter. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels displayed veteran calm while giving the Lions fits. Daniels led the Commanders to the end zone in each of Washington’s drives that immediate followed a Detroit touchdown, racking up 299 passing yards and two TD tosses along with 51 rushing yards and has now connected for four total scores in playoff action after failing to throw for a touchdown in Weeks 17 and 18. Brian Robinson Jr. also turned in his best career playoff performance, running for two touchdowns and 77 yards, snapping a five-game scoring drought, and produced a solid 63 yards and one score when they Commanders visited Philadelphia in November.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles needed a fourth-quarter rally on the snow-covered field at Lincoln Financial Field to eke out their narrow 28-22 win over the Rams last weekend. With bleak weather and quarterback Jalen Hurts still nursing injuries, the Eagles relied heavy on the ground game to seal last weekend’s win. Still struggling to overcome a thumb injury suffered late in the season, Hurts’ health concerns have deepened after he suffered a knee injury in last week’s contest. While the Eagles have been talking positive about Hurts’ fitness, he has been limited at practice this week. Overall, Hurts has averaged just 129.5 passing yards in his two playoff appearances. While the deep freeze that has enveloped much of the nation is expected to have passed by Sunday, it remains to be seen just how effective Hurts will be. With tight end Dallas Goedert and receiver AJ Brown also hobbled by injury, it is looking like it could be another busy day for running back Saquon Barkley, who provided the spark last week by running for 205 yards and two scores, and has now topped 100 rushing yards in 11 of his past 13 outings.
