Colts vs. Vikings Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
The Vikings who are 4-point favourites on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Whenever the college football regular season ends – and it officially did last Saturday with the annual Army-Navy game — the NFL slides a few games into each Saturday to fill the football void, and that starts this week with a tripleheader, all games on the NFL Network.
This game had been one of five that was announced to be determined when the NFL schedule was released in the spring. It will be Minnesota’s first regular-season Saturday game since a 16-0 win at Green Bay on Dec. 23, 2017, and 29th overall appearance on the day during the regular season.
These teams played in the Twin Cities in the 2021 preseason with the Colts winning 12-10 and last in the regular season in Week 2 of the 2020 campaign in Indianapolis with the Colts winning 28-11. Philip Rivers was the Indy QB then, and Jonathan Taylor rushed for 101 yards and a TD. Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins had one of the worst games of his career, completing 11 of 26 for 113 yards and three picks.
The Colts have covered the spread in four straight meetings and the under has hit in all four.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are 1-3 since owner Jim Irsay fired Coach Frank Reich and shocked pretty much everyone by replacing him with former Indy Pro Bowl centre Jeff Saturday, who had been working for ESPN and coaching high school football. The Colts upset the Raiders in Saturday’s debut but lost a third in a row in Week 13 and in embarrassing fashion, 54-19 in Dallas. Indianapolis was outscored 33-0 in the fourth quarter with four straight turnovers that led to Cowboys touchdowns.
Matt Ryan threw his second and third interceptions of the game and lost a fumble in the quarter. He has a league-worst 18 giveaways on the year. Indianapolis has a league-worst minus-14 turnover margin and ranks 31st in scoring (16.1 ppg). Saturday is sticking with Ryan for some reason even though the former MVP clearly will not be with the team in 2023. Neither will Saturday, most likely. The Colts are 2-6 ATS in their past eight road games.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are a unique bunch. Their 10 wins are all by one possession (eight points or fewer) and their three losses all by double digits following a 34-23 loss in Detroit on Sunday that all but ended Minnesota’s chances of catching Philadelphia for the NFC’s top seed and delayed the clinching of the NFC North title. The Vikes would clinch in Week 15 with a win or Detroit loss at the Jets on Sunday.
Kirk Cousins was great in the loss to Detroit with 425 yards passing and two scores, and Justin Jefferson had a franchise-record 223 yards receiving, but the defence was porous without injured Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith. Not clear if he will play this week. In its past five contests, the defence has allowed an average of 30.4 points per game and 460.6 yards, the worst in the league. Minnesota is 5-2-1 ATS in its past eight games.
