Colts vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
It is looking increasingly likely that the Indianapolis Colts will have aging veteran Philip Rivers under centre on Sunday afternoon, when they visit the Seattle Seahawks in NFL Week 15 betting action at Lumen Field. The Colts raised eyebrows by signing the 44-year-old quarterback in the wake of losing Daniel Jones to a season-ending injury in last week’s 36-19 loss to Jacksonville that extended the team’s losing streak to three games and bounced them from the AFC playoff picture.
The Seahawks return home on a high after rolling to a 37-9 victory last week in Atlanta that extends their current win streak to three games and leaves them deadlocked with the Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West standings.
The Seahawks have rocketed to 13.5-point home favourites on the NFL Week 15 odds. The beleaguered Colts trail as distant +750 underdogs on the NFL moneyline and the total is listed at 43.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Seahawks claimed a 28-16 win the last time the Colts visited Seattle, extending their current head-to-head win streak to two games. Overall, the Seahawks have topped Indy in five of eight meetings since 1994 including victories in three of four home dates.
High scoring has been commonplace in recent clashes between these teams, with the total reaching 44 or higher six times during a 5-2 run for the OVER. With the Seahawks scoring an average of 29.8 points per game, second most in the NFL this season, they have seen the OVER go 8-4 over their past 12 contests but a stingy defence that has surrendered just nine points over the past two games could change things this weekend.
Losers in four of five, the Colts were already seeing their offence taper off even before Jones’ injury. Indy has averaged just 18.3 points during its three-game slide, and has topped 20 points just once in five outings after averaging 33.8 points per game during a season-opening 7-1 run.
Indianapolis Colts
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and this week’s signing of Philip Rivers certainly fits the bill. Rivers last saw action during the 2020 season, when he led the Colts to a 11-5 record and a share of first place in the AFC South before getting bounced by Buffalo on Wild Card Weekend. Even in the best of circumstances, a near five-year layoff means that Rivers will have a rust to shake off, and with limited time to get acquainted with the Colts offence, expectations should be severely tempered.
With the receiving corps still dealing with a rash of injuries, it is tough to justify even an NFL player props value bet to find the end zone once and pay out on +100 odds. However, star running back Jonathan Taylor is likely to have a busy day, and should be backed as a -110 bet to record OVER 19.5 carries and to compile OVER 72.5 rushing yards.
Seattle Seahawks
After leading the Seahawks to a lopsided 26-0 rout of his former Minnesota Vikings teammates two weeks ago, Sam Darnold turned in another sensational performance on the road last weekend, racking up 249 yards and throwing for three TDs in a 37-9 dirty beating of the Falcons. Darnold now sits among the league leaders with 3,162 passing yards and 22 TD tosses, but has seen his production dip at home, where he has tossed for just total two touchdowns against two INTS while completing under 55 per cent of pass attempts twice in his past three games.
However, with the Seahawks offence well positioned to spend a lot of time on the field on Sunday, Darnold has emerged as a rather -145 bet to toss for OVER 1.5 TDs. Running back Kenneth Walker III is coming off his weakest performance since Week 1, picking up just 29 receiving yards on 10 carries in Atlanta, but should have plenty of chances to get in the action on Sunday, adding value to his -110 odds of topping 61.5 rushing yards for the eighth time this season.
