The Indianapolis Colts have won five in a row to pull within reach of a playoff position in the AFC. Now they need a win over an AFC South rival in order to keep the pressure on the Houston Texans at the top of the division. Indianapolis has struggled in recent years against the Jaguars, which is a trend that Andrew Luck and company will hope to reverse when they take the field this weekend. Will the Colts extend their win streak t six in a row with a big road win this Sunday? Or will Jacksonville get in the way of their playoff chase with a big victory at home?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Indianapolis is 0-6-1 against the spread versus the Jaguars since the beginning of 2015. Their lone push was earlier this season back in Week 10 when they won 29-26 as 3-point favorites at home. The Colts have shown some positive signs of late with five straight wins overall and a 3-1-1 ATS record over that span. Indianapolis is 5-5-1 against the spread this season.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville has trended in the opposite direction of late with seven straight losses. The Jaguars are 0-5-1 ATS over that span. Overall, Jacksonville is 3-6-2 against the spread. The Jaguars have lost their last two home games by an average of five points, which is a big reason why they are listed as 3.5-point home underdogs this week.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have turned a number of heads while stringing together five straight wins. Andrew Luck has completed 68.4-percent of his pass attempts for 3,112 yards and 32 touchdowns this season. His return to form is a big reason why the Colts are in playoff contention. It certainly helps that management and a new coaching regime have helped him out big time with improvements on the offensive line and in the backfield. Running back Marlon Mack has rushed for 556 yards and four touchdowns this season. He will be important this week as Indianapolis attempts to establish a rushing attack and keep the pressure off of Luck and the passing game.

The Colts have also been much better defensively of late. After allowing 37 points or more in three straight losses, Indianapolis hasn’t allowed more than 28 points in any of its last five wins, including holding the Bills and Titans to a combined 15 points. If the Colts are going to continue to roll this week, they will need their defence to step up with another strong performance this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville has trended in the opposite direction of late, losing seven straight after opening the season with a 3-1 record. The Jaguars won’t contend for a playoff spot this year after going to the AFC Championship game a year ago. However, they could still play spoiler in the AFC South. Even that seems a lot less likely after last week’s loss to Buffalo. The last time these teams met in Week 10, Luck threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns on the Jacksonville defence. Meanwhile, Blake Bortles threw for 320 yards and two scores against the Colts but it still wasn’t enough. He’s been benched for Cody Kessler.

The Jaguars haven’t demonstrated much of a home field advantage this season with a 2-4 record at TIAA Bank Field. It’s hard to pinpoint how this team will respond following its recent struggles, but we shouldn’t expect them to bounce back and play at a high level against an Indianapolis side that is in the playoff hunt. The Colts are likely to continue to roll this Sunday in a game that looks a lot like when these teams met three weeks ago.
