Carson Wentz is expected to start under centre for the defending Super Bowl champions for the first time since December 2017 when the Eagles host Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The underdog tag is a familiar role for Indianapolis. The Colts have been favored in just two of their last 19 regular season games and are getting six points on the road this weekend. Indy picked up a road win last weekend against Washington but Andrew Luck threw two picks and picked up just 179 yards on 31 pass attempts.

Indianapolis is 1-7 against the spread in its last eight games following a straight up win.  The Under is a tidy 9-1 in the Colts’ last 10 games and 5-0 in their last five away from home.

The Eagles narrowly got past the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 and then fell victim to Ryan Fitzmagic in Week 2. Tampa Bay totaled 393 passing yards and found the end zone four times for a 27-21 win. Philly is averaging just 322 offensive yards and 19.5 points per game after the first two weeks of the campaign.

The defending champions are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games and the Under is 5-1 in their last six home dates.

Indianapolis Colts

It’s a big story for the Colts that franchise quarterback Andrew Luck is on the field right now even if he’s not playing up to his high standards. He’s been picked off three times in his first two games back since missing all of last season with a shoulder injury.

There is hope for Indy backers that there are some other players worth watching on the roster – particularly on the other side of the ball. Rookie linebacker Darius Leonard was a thorn in side of the Redskins last weekend.

He collected 18 tackles with a sack and a forced fumble for good measure. His play was good enough to earn a spot on Pro Football Focus’ team of the week. Not too shabby for a second round pick out of South Carolina State.

Philadelphia Eagles

It’s easy to forget just how dominant Carson Wentz was a year ago before a knee injury sidelined him for the Eagles’ postseason run. Wentz led Philly to an 11-2 start and the second-year QB was the leading contender to walk away with the league MVP honours at the time of the injury.

Wentz is returning to a banged up first-string offence. Running backs Darren Sproles (hamstring) and Jay Ajayi (back) are both nursing injuries while receiver Mike Wallace is out with a fractured fibula and Alshon Jeffery isn’t expected to return until at least Week 4.
