Colts vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction
The Indianapolis Colts had their sights set on a playoff spot this season but instead, they’ve started the year with a three-game losing streak. To turn things around, they’re going to have to get past the Miami Dolphins. Miami sits at just 1-2 on the year but hopes to break even with a victory over Indianapolis. Which of these teams will be able to get what they want? Let’s take a deeper look and find out.
The Dolphins are 2-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 42.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Colts are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games but are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games on the road. They haven’t fared too well as the underdog though, currently sitting at 0-10 in games when they haven’t been the favourite. The under has been good for Indianapolis lately, with their last three games against teams with losing records finishing below the mark.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 10-3 straight up in their past 13 games when coming into the matchup as the favourite. The under has been good for Miami also, as it has cashed out in seven of their last 10 games in which they were the favourite. October hasn’t been too kind to them lately, though, as they are just 2-6 straight up during this month in their last eight games.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts haven’t been great on either end of the ball this year. The addition of quarterback Carson Wentz hasn’t panned out the way they hoped but he has been battling through multiple lower leg injuries. Truth be told, Wentz hasn’t been bad but he hasn’t been impactful either. He has just one touchdown pass in his last two games. Indy’s running back duo of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines have been decent but Taylor has yet to break the end zone once this season. Indianapolis has only cashed in on 36.4 per cent of their red zone trips to start this year, which is good enough for 29th in the league. If the Colts want to get their first win, they are going to have to stick with the run game and make the game plan as easy as possible for Wentz near the redzone.
Miami Dolphins
Miami is going to be playing this game without their starting quarterback. Tua Tagovailoa suffered a rib injury two weeks ago and missed their last game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Jacoby Brissett took over the job and played well enough in the second half to force the game into overtime with a last second touchdown. However, the Dolphins were unable to pull away with a win. Miami only scores an average of 15 points per game, which is 30th in the league right now. It doesn’t seem to matter who is leading the charge, this offence just hasn’t been explosive. They are 29th in the league in offensive yards per game as well. Brissett is going to need to get himself settled into this new offence quickly, as Miami isn’t going to be successful with such pitiful offensive numbers.
