Chiefs vs. Washington Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction
It’s Week 6 of the NFL season, and with a win over the Washington Football Team the 2-3 Kansas City Chiefs could get themselves out of last place in the AFC West. Few saw the Chiefs’ early season struggles but their losses have come versus some elite teams in Baltimore, the Chargers, and Buffalo.
Washington’s got the same 2-3 record as Kansas City which also means someone’s advancing back to .500 in this bout. The Football Team is also retiring late safety Sean Taylor’s number 21 jersey Sunday, making him only the third player in franchise history to receive such an honour.
Kickoff at FedEx Field is set for 1 p.m. EST. Kansas City goes in as a seven-point road favourite with the over-under at 54.5. The total is the highest of the Week 6 slate.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Chiefs are allowing the most points per game in 2021, giving up 32.6 an outing. Washington’s allowed the second-most at 31 a game. Both offences are in the top 12 when it comes to scoring too, Kansas City fifth with 30.8 points per game and Washington 12th at 24.6.
So to no surprise, both clubs are 4-1 to the over in the 2021–22 season. Head-to-head, the Chiefs have won their last seven against the Football Team and are also 7-0 against the spread in that span.
Kansas City Chiefs
Here’s where things get weirder regarding Kansas City’s underwhelming start to this season: the only two quarterbacks with more interceptions than Patrick Mahomes this season are Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson. Mahomes does lead the NFL with 16 touchdown passes though, whereas Lawrence and Wilson have 10 combined.
Receiver Tyreek Hill did not practise Thursday with a quad injury, and defensive starters Chris Jones (wrist) and Charvarius Ward (quad) also sat out Thursday. Tight end Travis Kelce got banged up in Kansas City’s 38-20 loss to Buffalo last Sunday but appears to be good to go. Kelce leads all tight ends with 30 catches this season and has 369 yards and four touchdowns.
Washington Football Team
The Taylor Heinicke era isn’t going as planned for Washington, yet. Heinicke’s thrown multiple interceptions in two of his four starts this season and is coming off a Week 5 showing in which he posted a 47.6 quarterback rating. Washington’s poor showing overall led to a 33-22 loss at home to New Orleans and marked the third straight week they’ve allowed at least 30 points.
Ron Rivera’s defence is one of the most underperforming units this entire season. Star defensive end Chase Young has just one sack on the year, and through the air the Football Team are averaging 2.8 passing touchdowns against per game which is 31st in the NFL.
