The Chiefs travel to the coast after improving to 3-0 with last weekend’s 22-17 win in Atlanta and are now undefeated straight up in nine games since Christmas Day. The Chargers are coming off their first loss of the season, dropping a 20-10 decision last weekend in Pittsburgh and have plenty of work to do to snap a 10-game head-to-head home losing streak when facing the Chiefs.

The Chiefs arrive in Los Angeles perched as lofty 7-point road favourites on the NFL odds. The Chargers lag as +280 underdogs on the moneyline and total is listed at just 39.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Chargers have covered just twice during their current 0-10 run versus the Chiefs on home turf. However, recent dates between these AFC West rivals at SoFi Stadium have become increasingly hard fought, with Kansas City claiming victory by an average of just four points in their past five visits.

The UNDER has paid out in three of the past four overall meetings between these squads. However, the total has far exceeded 40 in six of their past seven clashes.

The Chargers’ home woes are not limited to matchups with the Chiefs. LA has lost seven of 10 home dates since the start of the 2023 season, but an increasing stingy defence has given up just 25 total points in their past two home dates.

Conversely, the Chiefs have been dominant during their 9-0 run, covering the spread eight times. However, KC hs been a shaky bet as big road chalk, going just 3-6-1 ATS in their past 10.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs enter NFL Week 4 as one of just five remaining undefeated teams, but have had to overcome second-half deficits in each of their past two games and a favourable call from the officials to eke out a 27-20 win over Baltimore in Week 1. The team has struggled through slow starts, scoring just 10 total points in first-quarter action. However, the Chiefs defence has been equally stingy after halftime, surrendering just two total touchdowns through Week 3.

Patrick Mahomes remains the straw that stirs the Chiefs drink. The superstar pivot has connected on five scoring passes, but has also raised eyebrows with four interceptions, raising concerns going up against a stingy LA pass defence that has recorded picks in every game this season.

The Chiefs are also working with a cobbled backfield after seeing Clyde Edwards-Helaire get sidelined by injury. That sparked the team to welcome veteran Kareem Hunt back into the fold. Hunt was a standout during his first two pro seasons in Kansas City and ran for nine TDs last season in Cleveland.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have moved past last year’s lost season during a hard-fought 2-1 start to the season. The return of Justin Herbert, who missed most of last season due to injury, has provided a big lift. The oft-injured pivot has been quietly effective while tossing for four scores over the first three games. However, he once again faces health issues, with an ankle injury limiting him in practice this week and landing him back on the injury report as questionable.

With Herbert hobbled, the Chargers will once again have to lean on a stout defence that has been the star of this team in the early going. The Chargers have limited opponents to just 11 points per game during their 2-1 start and rank sixth in the NFL while allowing just 267 total yards per game. However, it is wise not to overlook that their two wins have come against inferior opponents, Las Vegas and Carolina, and things will get far tougher on Sunday againt the Chiefs.
