Pat Mahomes is finally on prime-time! The early-September sensation will be under the bright lights on Monday night football against the Broncos. So far in his young NFL career, Mahomes is undefeated (3-0) as he faces division rival Denver for the first time this season.

Oddsmakers have the visiting Chiefs as 4-point favourites in this game.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This game is a big opportunity for the Chiefs to take a two-game league in the AFC West division with a victory. Kansas City has won three straight games in the Mile High state (4-0 against the spread), including the last game of the regular season in 2017, where Mahomes made his first start of his career. The Chiefs are also 5-0, straight up in their last five games against the Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are 0-5 ATS in their last five games against the division, and 0-4 ATS against a team with a winning record. There could be some points scored in this game if history repeats itself as the over is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams.

Kansas City Chiefs

If the NFL MVP voting closed today, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes would be the runaway winner. Mahomes has been incredible throwing for 13 touchdowns in three games this season, and has yet to throw an interception. The Chiefs offence has averaged an amazing 39.3 points per game.

Mahomes has so many weapons, from Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, to Tyreek Hill who is top 10 in yard among NFL receivers. Unfortunately, as good as the offence is, the defence has been the opposite. They are ranked last is most categories including total defence and have given up an average of 30.7 points – which is 30th in the league.

Denver Broncos

Despite having a reasonable 2-1 record through the first three games of the season, there is some concern in Broncos camp, and it’s a lot of the same concern that fans of the team have seen the last couple of years – the quarterback position. When the team signed, free agent pivot Chase Keenum there was some thought that in the short term, the situation had been rectified. That has not quite been the case with Chase.

In three games, Keenum has thrown three touchdowns, five interceptions, and the offence is ranked 19th in the league with an average of 20.3 points per game. Star receiver Demaryius Thomas has yet to find chemistry with his new quarterback, hauling in 16 receptions for 144 yards. However, the same cannot be said about Emmanuel Sanders who has 269 receiving yards, and has been a favourite target of Keenum in the early part of the season. Running backs Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay have combined for 390 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns, with both players getting the chance in the lead role. On defence, the front seven is very good, but the secondary is banged up. Both Adam Jones and Tramaine Brock are expected back into the line-up, but the club is still feeling the effects of losing Aqib Talib in the offseason.
