Originally, 49ers-Seahawks was the Sunday night game, but San Francisco is terrible so it was an easy choice to shift Chargers-Steelers to prime time for NBC. Pittsburgh leads the AFC North, while L.A. is in the AFC West and wild-card chase.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The 2004 NFL Draft will always be remembered for three quarterbacks going in the Top 11 picks: Eli Manning at No. 1 to the Chargers, Philip Rivers No. 4 to the Giants and Ben Roethlisberger No. 11 to the Steelers – Rivers and Manning were immediately traded for one another. While Manning and Roethlisberger both have two Super Bowl rings, Rivers has been the better regular-season quarterback. He and Big Ben are locks for Canton, while Manning has a decent shot.

The Steelers have dominated this series in leading 23-9, which includes three playoff meetings. They last played in October 2015, a 24-20 Pittsburgh home victory on a Monday night when the Chargers still had San Diego in their name. Rivers has beaten Roethlisberger just twice.

Pittsburgh has covered eight of the past 11 in this series.

Los Angeles Chargers

In theory, the Chargers could finish with the second-best record in the AFC and yet only be a wild-card team because they are in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs (9-2). The Bolts had little trouble Sunday in thumping the visiting Arizona Cardinals but likely have lost star running back Melvin Gordon for at least a little while as he left with a knee injury.

The good news is that it’s not thought to be an ACL tear, but Gordon will be further evaluated on Monday. Almost a sure thing he sits this one out. He had rushed for two scores before going down and has 13 total touchdowns on the season. Rivers was amazing vs. Arizona in completing his first 25 passes, which tied the NFL record overall and were the most ever to start a game. Rivers’ 96.8 percent overall accuracy (28-for-29) also was a record.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers were lucky to win Week 11 in Jacksonville in staging a big rally. This writer thought that big comeback might have taken a bit out of the team and recommended betting against Pittsburgh at -3.5 on Sunday in Denver.

The Broncos won 24-17 to snap Pittsburgh’s six-game winning streak. Roethlisberger’s 2-yard pass into the Denver end zone was picked off by Broncos nose tackle Shelby Harris with 1:30 left. Big Ben threw for 462 yards but was picked off twice – the Steelers gave it away four times overall. JuJu Smith-Schuster did have a 97-yard TD catch. That’s the longest play from scrimmage in the league this year. Antonio Brown’s streak of eight straight games with a TD catch ended.
