Two of the hottest teams in the league will square off in Week 6 when the Baltimore Ravens line up against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With the Chargers shootout victory over the Cleveland Browns last weekend, they improved to 4-1 on the season and now have a three-game winning streak. The Ravens, on the other hand, mounted a huge comeback and took down the Indianapolis Colts to take control of a four-game winning streak. Which of these teams will be able to keep their run alive?
Baltimore is a 3-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 51.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Chargers have only been listed as a three-point underdog or more once throughout the 2021 season, and they were able to cover the spread in that contest. They have yet to lose as a dog this year. Los Angeles has also combined for over 52 points in two out of their first five games on the year.
Meanwhile, the Ravens have been unable to cover the spread when listed as favourites of three points or more, failing to do so all three times. This team has also scored a lot of points lately, with the over cashing out in three of their first five games on the year.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are in good hands offensively with Justin Herbert under centre. The team is fourth in the league in passing yards per game and happens to get a Baltimore defence that seemingly can’t stop the pass. They rank 29th in opposing pass yards allowed per game. A lot of the Chargers success has come from their wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, while Austin Ekeler has taken complete control of their backfield.
Defensively, Los Angeles needs to get some help in the run-stop department. They are dead last in average yards allowed per game on the ground and now they’re about to face Lamar Jackson. If they don’t come in with a solid game plan, the Ravens will run all over them.
Baltimore Ravens
Jackson proved how electric he could be with the football in his hands by storming back against the Colts last week, getting it done through the air and on the ground. He dug the team out of a 22-3 deficit in the second half, finishing with over 500 total yards himself. There is a reason that the Ravens are the fourth-ranked rushing offence in the league despite missing their three starting running backs. Jackson keeps opposing defences honest and doesn’t allow them to hone in on either the run or pass.
As mentioned earlier, Baltimore is going to have massive problems keeping up with Herbert and the Chargers passing game with their atrocious secondary. Both teams have strengths offensively that perfectly align with their opponents weakness. That could lead to a lot of points here.
