Chargers vs. Falcons Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction

The Falcons enjoyed a much-needed bye last week after getting outclassed in consecutive road losses, capped by a crushing 38-6 defeat in Denver two weeks ago, but maintain a one-game lead over second-place Tampa Bay in the underachieving NFC South standings. The Chargers kick off a two-game road trip looking to rebound from Monday night’s 30-23 loss to Baltimore that snapped an impressive four-game win streak but enter Thanksgiving weekend still in control of the No. 6 seed in the AFC.

Despite enjoying just five days rest this week, the Chargers arrive in Dixie perched as 1-point road favourites on the NFL Week 13 odds. The Falcons trail as +100 underdogs on the NFL moneyline and the total for Sunday’s contest is pegged at 48.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Chargers visit the Falcons for the first time in two years riding a three-game win streak in head-to-head action, capped by a 20-17 victory in November 2022. LA has also covered the spread in each of their recent wins over the Falcons and limited Atlanta to just 17 points in each of their past two meetings. The Chargers has compiled their 7-4 record this season on the strength of the NFL’s top defence, which has allowed just 15.9 points per game, but have allowed an average of 28.5 points over their past two games. That has sparked a 3-0 run for the OVER in totals betting after the UNDER paid out in seven of their first eight games of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the Falcons have work to do on offence after averaging just 11.5 points in their two recent defeats and have scored 17 or fewer points three times over their past five outings. That inconsistent production has extended a middling run on the NFL odds, with the Falcons going just 5-6 against the spread this season including a 2-4 ATS run at home.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have steadily improved their offensive production since scoring just 17.7 points per game over a shaky 3-3 start, tallying 27.4 points per game during their current 4-1 run. However, the defence has struggled at times over the past two games, particularly after halftime, with opponents averaging 18.5 second-half points in those contests. Justin Herbert has flashed vintage form at times while leading the Chargers attack, tossing for 13 TDs and running for two more, but has struggled to hit targets in the past two weeks while completing just 52.8% of his pass attempts. Herbert has also been regularly harassed by opposing defensive lines and was sacked a season-high four times last week. That has forced him to scramble for over 42 rushing yards per game over his past three outings. Adding to those concerns is the expected absence of top rusher JK Dobbins, who is nursing a knee injury that leaves him doubtful for Sunday’s matchup.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons fell behind early and never recovered on their way to their worst defeat in over three years in their Week 11 loss to the Broncos. After settling into his new role leading the Falcons attack and tossing for 13 touchdowns over the previous five games, Kirk Cousins struggled in the team’s recent defeats, failing to find the end zone while tossing a pair of picks. While Cousins has impressed while compiling eight TD passes in his past three home appearances, he has also been forced to defend for himself at times. But lacking Herbert’s mobility, Cousins has been sacked a total of 17 times over the past six games and has tossed seven interceptions in six home dates. Bijan Robinson also took a step back in Denver, rushing for just 35 yards after running for two scores a week earlier in New Orleans but has piled up 250 total rushing yards in his past three home appearances.
