NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Baltimore-Tampa Bay is the first Monday night start at 8:15 p.m. ET and Los Angeles-Arizona kicks off at 9 ET, which is later than normal. It’s also streaming on ESPN+ exclusively nationwide, but in the two participating markets, it’s also on an over-the-air station.

Both the Chargers and Cardinals are somewhat rebuilding. Los Angeles is in Year 1 with new head coach Jim Harbaugh and he’s reason enough for the Bolts to have three primetime games scheduled this year. Los Angeles looks very similar to Harbaugh’s Michigan team that won last season’s NCAA national title in that the Chargers run the ball a lot and rely on their strong offensive and defensive fronts. Quarterback Justin Herbert hasn’t come close to a 300-yard game yet.

Arizona is in Year 2 of its rebuild with second-year coach Jonathan Gannon. The Cards also have their QB in place in former No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray, and they selected a future Pro Bowl at No. 4 overall in this year’s draft in Ohio State wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. The offence can be solid, but the defence is among the league’s worst and that unit needs a lot of help.

The Chargers lead the all-time series 11-4 including their time in San Diego and even back to when the Cardinals were in St. Louis. They last met in 2022 and Los Angeles won 25-24 in the desert on a Herbert 1-yard TD pass with 15 seconds left and then the winning 2-point PAT pass from Herbert.

Los Angeles Chargers

One sign of a well-coached team is how well it performs out of its bye week. Los Angeles was really banged-up entering it week off on a two-game skid but looked much improved Sunday in a 23-16 win in Denver – leading 23-0 in the fourth quarter despite still being without top pass-rusher Joey Bosa. Starting cornerback Kristian Fulton left during it with a hamstring injury. That defence leads the NFL in scoring at 13.5 points per game.

Justin Herbert had season highs in completions (21), attempts (34) and passing yards (237; his most since Week 11 last year) in the win. Rookie running back Kimani Vidal’s first career catch came on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Herbert. It was the first game this season the sixth-round pick Vidal was active.

The Bolts put up a season-high 350 yards of offence as that unit scored on its first four possessions. Coach Jim Harbaugh left briefly in the first quarter and said afterward that he was dealing with an irregular heartbeat. He will wear a heart monitor for a few weeks but otherwise it shouldn’t affect his job. The under is 8-2 in LA’s past 10 road games.

Arizona Cardinals

Arizona was dominated for the most part Sunday in a 34-13 loss in Green Bay and to make matters worse, stellar receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., among the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year favourites, left early with a concussion. Harrison did not have a catch on two targets. That the Cards have an extra day this week can only help his chances of playing. Tight end Trey McBride came away with eight catches for 96 yards as Murray’s clear top target once Harrison Jr. left the game.

The Cardinals had been averaging a league-low 3.8 penalties per game, but they were penalized 13 times for 100 yards Sunday and also committed three turnovers. You aren’t winning in the NFL with those numbers. Arizona is now 2-0 vs. its NFC West foes this year and 0-4 against everyone else.

No. 1 kicker Matt Prater, one of the NFL’s best, missed his second straight game due to injury. Other players to leave injured were defensive lineman Bilal Nichols (stinger), left guard Evan Brown (ankle), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (neck) and linebacker Kyzir White (knee). Arizona is 2-6 ATS in its past eight October games.
