Chargers vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction

The Niners are 7-point favourites on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

San Francisco already has beaten the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams twice this season. Will the Chargers have better luck? This writer actually thought a Chargers-49ers Super Bowl 57 was quite possible. It still is, but the Bolts have moderately disappointed as they usually do despite having one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Justin Herbert. If the Niners had him instead of Jimmy Garoppolo, they are winning the Super Bowl.

The Chargers have won the past five in the series, but they haven’t played since 2018 when Los Angeles won 29-27 when it was playing in a soccer stadium in Carson, Calif., waiting on SoFi Stadium to be finished. Philip Rivers threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns, but he’s obviously long retired. CJ Beathard was the Niners’ QB then because Jimmy G was hurt.

The teams have split the past 10 meetings against the spread.

Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles came out of its bye on Sunday and won in Atlanta 20-17 even though QB Justin Herbert was missing his top two receivers in Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. Williams will not play here, either. Not clear on Allen. Herbert’s 22-yard pass to Joshua Palmer set up Cameron Dicker’s 37-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. Running back Austin Ekeler recorded his fourth game this season with both a rushing touchdown and receiving TD. Defensive tackle Austin Johnson injured his knee and figures to miss some time. Left tackle Trey Pipkins III left the game in the fourth quarter with his own knee injury. Sunday marked the fourth consecutive game Los Angeles trailed by at least 10 points. The Chargers are 3-1 in those games, also beating Cleveland and Denver and losing to Seattle. LA is 4-0 ATS in its past four road games.

San Francisco 49ers

The Niners come out of their bye. In Week 8, they swept the defending Super Bowl champion Rams with a 31-14 win in LA. Trade acquisition Christian McCaffrey became the 11th player in NFL history with a rushing touchdown, a passing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in one game. The Rams also tried to trade for him. LaDainian Tomlinson was the last player with rushing, passing and receiving TDs in the same game, doing it for San Diego back in 2005. Only four players have done it since 1970. Star Niners wideout Deebo Samuel was out with a hamstring injury. Also out were defensive lineman Arik Armstead (foot, ankle), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (broken finger) and linebacker Dre Greenlaw (calf). The Niners are 6-1 ATS in their past seven at home.
