The Seahawks will use this game with the Cardinals as a tune-up for the following week where they will be a part of Wild Card weekend. Unless this game gets out of hand one way or another, the Seahawks will be using their entire roster as they look for their 10th win of the season.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These two teams met back in week four with the Seahawks edging the Rams 20-17. They enter this game as 3.5-point favourites.

Head-to-head, the Cardinals are 3-0-1 against the spread in the last four games against Seattle and the road team in this series is 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight games. The underdog in this series is 6-0-1 ATS in the last seven games. Over the last 10 games, the Hawks are 5-4-1 against the Cards. The Seahawks are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four home games.

Arizona Cardinals

It’s finally here; last game of the regular season for the helpless Cardinals. Will they put up a fight in week 17? Their 3-12 record tells us that is unlikely.

The Cardinals are coming off a 31-9 loss to the Rams last weekend. Here’s the kicker; they were blown out despite the Rams missing star running back Todd Gurley. Gruley was a late scratch Sunday, so cue CJ Anderson who was signed just four days before the game. Anderson didn’t look out of place tearing up the Cards for 167 yards on 20 carries. In fact the Cardinals allowed the Rams backfield (combined) 269 team rushing yards and an average of a whopping 6.6 yards per carry. Now they face a Seahawks team that owns the leagues number one rush offence averaging 158.5 yards per game.

This team has a historically bad offence ranked last or near last in most offensive categories. Maybe the lowest of the low is through 15 games this season, the team has averaged less than two touchdowns scored per game for an average of 13.4 points per game.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks appear to be peaking at the right time coming off one of their biggest games against one of their toughest opponents in this 2018 season. Under the bright lights of Sunday night football, Russell Wilson outdueled MVP hopeful Patrick Mahomes. Wilson threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns in the 38-31 win. Two-time Doug Baldwin had his best performance of the season catching seven passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. It’ s been an injury-riddled season for Baldwin but he appears to be healthy in what is an important time of year for any team.

Discipline was key in this win against the Chiefs as the team only committed three penalties for 20 yards, this compared to the previous week were they set a franchise record 14 penalties for 148 yards.

The Seahawks know they are part of the post season picture but with a win against the Cardinals, they would confirm a date with the Dallas Cowboys for Wild Card weekend. A loss and a Vikings win could mean the Hawks would have to travel to Chicago or possibly Los Angeles, two destinations most teams would rather avoid.

With the team having a very solid 9-6 season and 4-1 in their last five games Seahawks management were more than happy to extend Head Coach Pete Carroll another two years. The Seahawks led the NFL in turnover differential at an impressive plus-14.
