The top of the NFC West standings will be on the line in Week 4, when the Los Angeles Rams play host to the Arizona Cardinals as 4.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds. Sunday afternoon’s clash at SoFi Stadium features two teams aiming to remain undefeated so far this season. The Rams improved their straight up record to 3-0 with an impressive 34-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend, and have now tallied wins in 10 of their past 12 home dates. The Cardinals travel to the west coast after posting a 31-19 win in Jacksonville last Sunday, and have now claimed victory by double-digit margins in three of their past four road outings.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The betting line for this divisional matchup opened with the Rams favoured by 5.5 points before quickly moving to Los Angeles -6.5. However, the line has tilted in Arizona’s favour as the week has progressed. There has also been plenty of movement on the total, which has climbed to 55 since opening at 53.5.

The Rams have dominated in recent head-to-head meetings, winning outright in eight straight while going 7-0-1 against the spread, including four straight home wins. Seven of those victories have come by double-digit margins, with the Rams averaging a whopping 31.4 points per game. However, with the Cardinals being held to single-digit point totals on five occasions during that stretch, capped by an 18-7 home victory in Week 17 of last season, the UNDER has gone 5-3 and paid out in three of their past four meetings in Los Angeles.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals needed time to overcome a slow start in last week’s visit to Jacksonville. After spotting the Jaguars a third-quarter lead, Arizona took advantage of rookie mistakes by quarterback Trevor Lawrence while scoring three unanswered touchdowns on their way to their first 3-0 start since 2015. As expected, Kyle Murray has powered the Cardinals offence, tossing seven scoring passes through the first three weeks of the season. However, with Murray failing to find the end zone last weekend, it was the Arizona ground attack that came up big with three scoring runs, including two from James Conner. The Cardinals defence has also been effective against the pass, surrendering just 202 yards per game and five scores this season.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams continued to roll with last weekend’s statement win over the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers. Los Angeles now ranks third in the NFL in points scored per game with 31.7, trailing only Tampa Bay and Arizona, who have each averaged 34.3 points per contest. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has averaged 314 passing yards per game while tossing for nine scores against just one pick, capped by last weekend’s sensational four-touchdown performance. The Rams defence has also been particularly effective against the pass, allowing just two total scores this season. Overall, Los Angeles has allowed just 13.7 points per game while going 7-2 over their past nine home dates while favoured by four or more points, but have managed to cover in just five of those contests.
