Arizona and Green Bay are both coming off successful trips to California in Week 5. The Cardinals surprised with 24-23 win against the 49ers, while the Packers downed the Rams 24-19.

Green Bay opened as a five-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 49.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These teams haven’t met since Week 8 of the 2021 season. Green Bay won that game 24-21 on the road during Aaron Rodgers‘ fourth career MVP season. Kyler Murray struggled, throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns. Of course, Murray continues to start for Arizona while Rodgers played one more season with the Pack before leaving for his, so far, disastrous stint with the Jets.

The Cardinals won outright last week as 7.5-point underdogs, pushing their record to 3-2 against the spread this season. They are now 4-13 straight up in their last 17 games as an underdog. Arizona has had awful luck at Lambeau Field, however, as they’ve dropped seven of their last eight road games against Green Bay.

The Packers are 3-2 ATS in 2024, but a weird trend has seen them go just 1-7 ATS in their last eight Week 6 games. They generally play tighter games against NFC West teams, leading to the total going Under in their last five contests against the division.

Arizona Cardinals

Arizona’s defence came up big last week, shutting out San Francisco in the second half, which helped the Cardinals rally from a 13-point deficit. Murray proved to be a dual threat, throwing for 195 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while rushing for another 83 yards and a score on the ground. The 27-year-old is having a strong bounce-back campaign, averaging nearly 200 passing yards and 50 rushing yards per game while throwing for seven TDs and only two interceptions. James Conner also continued a strong season with 86 rushing yards against the Niners and he now sits seventh in total rushing yards this season (379).

As good as Arizona’s defence was in the second half of last week’s game, they’re still one of the worst units in the NFL through five weeks. They’ve struggled against the pass and the run while ranking 27th in points per drive (2.49) and 18th in preventing touchdowns in the red zone. That’s a recipe for disaster against Green Bay’s creative offensive scheme.

Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love had a bit of an uneven performance last week in L.A., throwing for 224 yards and two TDs, but he also threw a brutal interception that resulted in his first career pick-six. Still, Love settled in after that, completing 12 of his next 13 passes. All in all, it was a positive bounce back after Love’s three interceptions the previous week. Second-year receiver Jayden Reed continues to impress after finishing with 97 total yards in Week 5. Reed is averaging an elite 104.8 combined receiving and rushing yards per game.

The Packers’ offence will get a boost in Week 6 with the return of receiver Romeo Doubs, who Green Bay suspended last week for missing practice and team meetings. Defensively, off-season addition Xavier McKinney has been a great addition. The fifth-year safety leads the NFL with five interceptions, recording a pick every game this season.
