Despite a 4-9 record, the Atlanta Falcons are no pushover and will be looking for the upset win in this NFC South matchup, when the 8-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to town.

These teams split the season series with one win apiece last year, but Tampa Bay is a very different team now.  The Bucs opened up at -4, but have moved up to 6-point favourites on the NFL odds, with a total of 50.5.

NFL Week 15 Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Bucs have had no trouble putting up points in divisional games in recent history, with the over 8-1 in their last nine games against NFC South opponents.  Tampa Bay is 1-5 against the spread (ATS) in the last six games following a straight up win.

Atlanta’s offence has been inconsistent this year, with the under 4-0 in their last four games overall.  The Falcons are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against opponents with winning records.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After a 26-14 home win over the Minnesota Vikings last week, the Buccaneers sit two wins behind the New Orleans Saints for the lead in the NFC South. Although unlikely, the Bucs could still win the division.  Running back Ronald Jones II had one of his better games of the season, last week, rushing for 80 yards and a TD on 18 carries.  He may not be available this week though because he’s landed on the reserve/COVID list. With the Vikings defence focused on the run-game, QB Tom Brady seemed very comfortable, throwing for 196 yards and two TDs.

Tampa Bay has one of the best pass rushes in the NFL, sacking Kirk Cousins six times, last week.  Jason Pierre-Paul leads the team with 9.5 sacks and the Bucs’ 40 sacks on the year puts them in a tie for fourth-most in the league.  Tampa Bay is third in the NFL in QB hits with 95 and their 14 interceptions also ranks them in the Top-10 of the league.

Atlanta Falcons

Despite losing 20-17 to the Chargers in L.A., last week, Atlanta left the game with some positives.  Their pass defence picked off QB Justin Herbert once and held him to 5.5 yards per attempt.  It was a step in the right direction for a defence that ranks near the bottom of the league in passing yards allowed, giving up an average of 281.8 per game.

It was the Falcons’ offence that let them down in L.A.  Atlanta only managed 70 rushing yards as a team, while QB Matt Ryan threw three interceptions and was sacked twice.  The lone standout for Atlanta’s offence was Calvin Ridley, who averaged 15.5 yards per reception, finishing with 124 receiving yards and a TD.
