Running back Jonathan Taylor's five-TD performance almost singlehandedly led the Colts to a win last week, but Indy will have a tougher test against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Fans and bettors will be treated to a marquee matchup in Sunday’s showdown between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the host Indianapolis Colts. The Buccaneers’ stout run defence will be the focus this weekend as it looks to contain superstar Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, who exploded for five touchdowns in a one-sided win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Bucs are 3-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 53.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Tampa Bay has been favoured in every game it has played in 2021, though this represents the second-smallest spread the Buccaneers have seen. And it’s hard to get excited about the Bucs as a fave at this point, as they’ve gone just 4-6 for the season (including a dismal 0-5 ATS on the road). The Colts bring a 7-4 against-the-spread mark into Sunday’s encounter, though they’ve covered just three of their previous nine games at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The sports betting public just can’t quit the Buccaneers despite their ATS struggles, with 56 per cent of Sports Interaction respondents taking the visitors minus the points. The trend on the Over/Under is nearly identical, with 57 per cent of bettors taking the O53 at -110. It’s a lot of points, to be sure – and with the Buccaneers having gone just 5-5 O/U for the year, it’s easy to see why the traditional Over-heavy betting trend isn’t as prevalent here.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs put back-to-back losses behind them in convincing fashion last time out, cruising to a 30-10 drubbing of the New York Giants. But, if they can’t get their road woes figured out, they’re going to have a difficult time defending their Super Bowl title. All three of Tampa Bay’s defeats have come away from Raymond James Stadium, and they own a minus-21 point differential on the road (compared to an incredible plus-108 differential in their five home games).

Indianapolis Colts

As incredible as Taylor’s performance was last week (185 rushing yards and four touchdowns, along with 19 receiving yards and a score), it isn’t like it came out of nowhere. Taylor leads the NFL in rushing at 1,122 yards, and his 15 total touchdowns are also tops in the league. He has had at least one rushing touchdown in eight consecutive games, and has topped the 100-yard plateau six times over that stretch, as well. He’s now +1800 to win NFL MVP honours.
