NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

There are three NFL games on Christmas and this is the finale.

It means essentially nothing for the hugely disappointing Cardinals, who recently lost star quarterback Kyler Murray to a season-ending injury and also general manager Steve Keim to a health-related leave of absence – although there are rumours that is just a smokescreen and that Keim will not be back with this franchise an utter mess. Coach Kliff Kingsbury also might be gone after the season; for some reason, ownership gave both contract extensions this summer.

Tampa Bay needs this as it battles for the NFC South title, and it might only take seven wins to get it. It could be the last-ever prime-time game for Tom Brady as an NFL quarterback amid rumours he will finally retire.

The teams haven’t met since Week 10 of the 2019 season in Tampa when Brady was still with New England and Murray a rookie. The Bucs won 30-27 as Jameis Winston threw for 358 yards and a TD. Murray had 324 and three TDs.

The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If Bucs quarterback and GOAT Tom Brady was leaning toward retirement after this season, he might be leaning even more now after Sunday’s 34-23 home loss to Cincinnati to drop Tampa Bay to 6-8 – but still atop the NFC South by a game. Brady & Co. played great in the first half in leading 17-0 at one point and 17-3 at the break but truly atrocious in the second half as TB12 turned the ball over on four straight possessions. It was the second time in his career he did that, also in Week 7 of the 2001 season (Brady’s first year as a starter) while with New England against Denver. The four giveaways tied his career high. If you watch the Bucs, Brady seems to blame everyone else as he’s constantly yelling at teammates. Brady lost for the first time in a 23-year career after leading by at least 17 points. He was 89-0 in such games before Sunday. Tampa played without a few key players, led by right tackle Tristan Wirfs, receiver Julio Jones and defensive tackle Vita Vea. The Bucs are 1-10-1 ATS in their past 12 games.

Arizona Cardinals

Arizona lost its fourth in a row Sunday, 24-15 in Denver. With Kyler Murry out for the year, Colt McCoy started at QB and was 13-for-21 for 78 yards and a pick before leaving in the third quarter with a possible concussion. Trace McSorley took over and completed 7-for-15 for 95 yards and two picks. Too early to know who starts here, but the league really doesn’t mess around with concussions any longer so it probably will be McSorley. The 2019 sixth-round pick (by Baltimore) has never started in the NFL. David Blough — just signed last week – would be the likely No. 2. Arizona also played Sunday without its top three cornerbacks due to injury in Marco Wilson, Antonio Hamilton and Byron Murphy as well as defensive end Zach Allen. The Cardinals are 3-10 ATS in their past 13 at home.
