Buccaneers vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction
As a six-time Super Bowl champion with New England, Tom Brady has also had a winning record against 30 of 31 NFL teams he’s played against. The single outlier? The Denver Broncos.
Brady’s 8-9 career record versus Denver is something of note, as the Broncos arguably have the only home field advantage in the NFL this year given the altitude levels at Mile High Stadium.
But Brady and the Bucs are coming in as winners in Week 2, while Vic Fangio’s roster is banged up.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
With only six career meetings between these two clubs, there’s little history to go off of, but the Broncos are 5-1 in those games with the Bucs averaging under 16 points per game.
Despite Tom Brady’s offence not lighting the turf on fire, there is an over trend with Tampa Bay (going back to the Jameis Winston days). In 14 of Tampa’s last 16, the total’s gone over, as have eight of their last 11 against the AFC West.
Oddsmakers currently give Tampa Bay the road favourites moniker, sitting as a six-point favourite with the over-under at 43.5.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs’ 14-point win over Carolina last week met some of the expectations Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and Co. brought in with given their past success, but Tampa Bay still hasn’t been all that impressive.
Beady threw a pedestrian 217 yards in Week 2 and Gronkowski failed to record a catch. Instead another newcomer, Leonard Fournette, took matters into his own hands with 12 carries for 103 yards and a game-sealing touchdown. Carolina was without superstar running back Christian McCaffrey for the second half too, so it’s not like the Bucs were dealing with a juggernaut.
Tampa Bay currently ranks 25th in total offence, but might be getting back 1,000-yard receiver Chris Godwin who missed last week with a concussion.
Denver Broncos
Going into Week 3, Denver’s without Von Miller, Drew Lock, Cortland Sutton, and A.J. Bouye, and then possibly Jerry Jeudy, Jurrell Casey, and Phillip Lindsay – so, not ideal. But to the surprise of many, Denver stuck around at Pittsburgh last week without most of these players.
Quarterback Jeff Driskel managed over 250 yards and two touchdowns in relief of the injured Lock, against an elite Steelers defence too. Denver still didn’t get the outcome they wanted, falling to 0-2 on this season.
The Broncos are rightfully an underdog Sunday, but are a sneaky underdog to possibly win, but at least cover. Denver’s 8-3 ATS in their last 11, and have covered in seven of their last eight against the NFC South. Sunday’s not necessarily about what Denver has done so far, but what Tampa Bay’s failed to prove. Remember, Brady — 8-9 all-time against Denver.
