The Browns are down to their last chance to avoid the embarrassment of a winless season but they’re facing a Steelers team with the goal of locking up the top seed in the AFC playoff picture.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Steelers opened as 13-point favourites with the total set at 39.5 on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board.

Pittsburgh is coming off a 34-6 drubbing of the Houston Texans – and its first ATS victory since the middle of November. The Steelers enter the final week of the season at 12-3 straight up but just 7-8 against the spread. Ben Roethlisberger and Co. are 0-3 against the number when giving 10 or more points on the year.

The Browns lost 20-3 at Chicago over the weekend and fell to 0-15 SU and 2-13 ATS. Cleveland is now 4-43 SU and 12-34-1 ATS over the last three seasons.

Pittsburgh has won nine of its last 10 games against the Browns and covered the spread in six of those 10 meetings.

More than 81 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are backing the Steelers to cover the 13-point spread and 100 percent expect the game to play over the total at 39.5 points.

Cleveland Browns

Cleveland locked up the first overall pick in the NFL Draft for a second straight season because of another year full of losing. Team ownership has already said head coach Hue Jackson will return next season despite his ugly 1-30 record as the club’s HC.

The Browns have turned the ball over nine times inside the red zone this season – including twice against the Bears last weekend. The next closest team only had three giveaways inside the 20-yard line heading into Week 16.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The one bit of good news for Cleveland backers is that the Steelers won’t have All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown on the field Sunday. Brown is still nursing a sore leg and isn’t expected to return until the Steelers first playoff game.

Pittsburgh is the third favourite to win the Super Bowl at +475 on the Sports Interaction NFL futures board behind the New England Patriots (+225) and Minnesota Vikings (+375).
