Browns vs. Raiders Point Spread: NFL Week 12 Odds, Prediction

Barring something remarkable from the infamous son of Deion Sanders, we’re in for a low-scoring battle between a pair of 2-8 clubs that rank in the bottom four in the NFL in points per game. A combination of injuries and trades have jolted Sanders up from QB4 to QB1 this weekend, just months after dropping from a top NFL Draft pick to the 144th overall pick.

Sanders is taking over the starting reigns for Dillon Gabriel, who is in concussion protocol after Cleveland picking up their third consecutive loss. Las Vegas has dropped four straight games, most recently falling to Dallas 33-16 on Monday night. The Raiders’ -98 point differential is the third-worst in the entire league.

Kickoff at Allegiant Stadium goes at 4:05 p.m. EST with the Raiders coming in as -200 favourites and -4 on the point spread, with the total all the way down at 36 on the Week 12 NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

An over-under of 36 points is about as low as you’ll see in today’s NFL. But the matter of the fact is oddsmakers are factoring in what kind of performance Shedeur Sanders will deliver in his first NFL start, combined with the fact the Raiders are unable to sustain anything on offence. Las Vegas’ 15.5 points ranks tied for 30th in the NFL, and Cleveland isn’t far ahead at 16.5 per outing. The under has hit in seven of the last nine Browns–Raiders meetings as well.

Cleveland enters this weekend having gone 0-10 against the spread in their last 10 road games. The Browns are also winless in five road outings this season, losing by double digits in four of those games. Las Vegas has won four of their last five times hosting Cleveland.

Cleveland Browns

Shedeur Sanders got in for a half last week versus Baltimore — playing his first NFL snaps — and it wasn’t pretty. Sanders completed four of 16 pass attempts for 47 yards and got intercepted twice in the 23-16 loss. The Browns totalled just 64 yards of offence in the half, and a Devin Bush pick-six was Cleveland’s only touchdown of the game. Sanders could be without tight end David Njoku this week, who missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury.

What’s depressing about another porous Browns campaign is they’re seemingly wasting another insane season from Myles Garrett, who had four sacks last weekend. Garrett is the first player since 2091 with at least four sacks in two games this season, and is now the first player in NFL history with five straight seasons of least 13 sacks. His 15 sacks leads the NFL this year.

Las Vegas Raiders

With 32 passing plays and three running plays in the first half on Monday, the Raiders became only the third team since at least 1991 with 30 or more dropbacks and four or few runs in a first half. And this is a team who took a running back sixth overall this season. Ashton Jeanty rushed six times for seven yards in the 33-16 loss to Dallas, as the wheels are falling off in Vegas. Jeanty’s 51 yards before contact is just 1.08 yards on average per carry and ranks 79th in the NFL. The problem is throwing the ball isn’t resulting in much success, as Geno Smith is averaging 208.2 yards per game and has more interceptions (13) than touchdowns (12) this season.

Brock Bowers led all Raiders pass-catchers with seven grabs for 72 yards last week and now has 19 catches for 199 yards and three touchdowns in two home games since returning from injury at the start of the month. Bowers’ usage should stay at that pace as these offences slug it out.
