Browns vs. Raiders Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction
The Browns failed to successfully follow up on their narrow 18-13 win in Jacksonville two weeks ago, returning home last weekend and turning in another lacklustre performance in a 21-15 loss to the New York Giants to fall to 1-2 SU this season. The Raiders are looking to rebound from a stunning 36-22 loss to the visiting Carolina Panthers in NFL Week 3, ending a five-game SU and ATS win streak as home chalk.
The Raiders get set to hit the gridiron at Allegiant Stadium perched as slim 1.5-point favourites on the NFL Week odds. The Browns are listed as a +105 wager on the NFL moneyline and the total is pegged at 37.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
It has been three years since the Raiders tallied a narrow 16-14 victory when they last battled the Browns in Cleveland. With that win, the Raiders improved to 4-0 in their past four dates with the Browns, covering the spread three times over that stretch. However, the Raiders have produced mixed results against the Browns on home turf ahead of their first ever meeting at Allegiant Stadium, going just 4-3 in seven matchups while covering the spread just twice over that run. The last two meetings have been low scoring, with these two teams combining to score an average of just 26 total points. That has extended a steady run for the UNDER in totals betting, which has paid out in six of their last eight clashes.
Cleveland Browns
An opportunity to hit the reset button against a beleaguered opponent didn’t work out as planned for the Browns last week. While Deshaun Watson showed moderate improvement while completing 56.8% of pass attempts for 196 yards and two touchdowns, the Browns’ battered and bruised offensive line allowed their controversial quarterback to get sacked eight times. This team remains at a crossroads with Watson, who enjoys a $230 million guaranteed contract but has tossed just three scoring passes and ranks second last in the NFL with just 4.8 yards per pass attempt and 28th in the league with a completion percentage of just 57.8%. Injuries do not help matters. Among the Browns players on this week’s injury list is receiver Jerry Jeudy and injuries to Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong could limit the browns’ ability to leverage their ground game.
Las Vegas Raiders
The high have been high and the lows low for the Raiders, who followed up on the biggest upset win of Week 2 with a dismal performance in last week’s loss to the Panthers. Apart from a 97-yard scoring drive in the first quarter, the Raiders struggled to move the ball, failing to penetrate the Carolina red zone until they generated a pair of coring drives during garbage time in the fourth quarter. That helped quarterback Gardner Minshew inflate his numbers to 214 passing yards with one score and one pick on the day before turning over the ball to Aidan O’Connell in the late stages. The defence did no better after turning in an enormous performance in the team’s 26-23 upset win in Baltimore, allowing Carolina veteran pivot Andy Dalton to record 319 yards and three TDs, and Chuba Hubbard to pile up 114 rushing yards, 55 receiving yards and one scoring catch.
