The Texans got a huge statement win in Week 13 when they beat the visiting New England Patriots on Sunday. The Broncos also made headlines with a win against the Chargers, as it was the first career win for rookie quarterback Drew Lock.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Denver Broncos are 4-8 this season, and will likely drop completely out of playoff contention if the Chiefs and the Steelers get wins on Sunday, as the Broncos are at third place in the AFC West.  The Texans come into this one with an 8-4 record, putting them a game ahead of the Titans in the AFC South, and at third place in the AFC.

Houston won the most recent matchup against Denver, but historically speaking, the Broncos lead the all-time series by 4-3. The Texans are favoured in this one, by more than a touchdown, and are currently priced as -9.5 favorites to win. The Broncos are 7-5 against the spread this season. The Texans are 6-6 against the spread.

Denver Broncos

It’s fair to say that Broncos rookie QB Drew Lock had some serious chemistry going on in Week 13 with WR Courtland Sutton, who caught two touchdown passes from Lock in Denver’s 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Sutton forced a pass interference penalty in the game’s final seconds to give Brandon McManus a chance to win it with a 53-yard field goal, which he did.

Lock completed 18-of-28 passing for 134 yards and became the seventh quarterback to start for Denver since Week 9 of 2017. No other team has been as plagued in the quarterback position in the last few years, and there’s a glimmer of hope that Lock might be the team’s future.

That victory was their first win in three games. This is not a team with a great road win record at 1-5.

Houston Texans

In a thriller win against the New England Patriots, QB Deshaun Watson threw three touchdown passes and CAUGHT his first career touchdown pass from DeAndre Hopkins on a tricky little play that propelled the Texans to a 28-22 win. On first-and-goal, Watson took the snap, gave the ball to RB Duke Johnson, who put it right into the hands of WR DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins ran to the sideline and then tossed the ball back to Watson who took a dive into the endzone for the TD.

Thankfully, Watson was having a fantastic game, otherwise the team might have struggled. They got just 52 rushing yards against a stout Patriots run defense.

The Texans have won four of their last five and are 5-1 at home so far this season. Their only home loss came at the hands of the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.
