Broncos vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction

Dak Prescott is set to return after missing last week’s 20-16 win in Minnesota due to a calf injury. The Broncos travel to Dallas aiming to build on last week’s 17-10 win over Washington that put the brakes on a four-game straight up and against the spread losing streak.

Dallas is a 10-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 49.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Cowboys have made steady gains since opening as 7.5-point favourites, with the support of 67 per cent of sports bettors lifting them to 10-point chalk. The total has also seen some upward movement, rising to 49.5 since opening at 49. However, those gains come despite seeing the UNDER attract 76 per cent of bets.

Sunday’s matchup at AT&T Stadium marks the first meeting between these two teams since September 2017. The Broncos have dominated in head-to-head clashes with the Cowboys, winning six straight since 1995. Denver rolled to a 42-17 win in their last date with Dallas four years ago, and have piled up 93 total points in their past two wins over the Cowboys. That has maintained a steady trend for the OVER, which has paid out in seven of eight dates between these teams. But while the Cowboys have averaged 39 points per game in their past four outings with Prescott under centre, an anemic Denver offence has mustered just 16.1 points per game during the team’s current 1-4 slide.

Denver Broncos

Sunday’s contest marks the beginning of the post-Von Miller era in Denver. The Broncos dealt Miller to the Los Angeles Rams earlier this week, ending the former Super Bowl MVP linebacker’s decade-long stay in the Mile High City. Miller’s departure leaves a huge hole in Denver’s defensive line. Despite missing all of last season, Miller has been steady this year, leading the Broncos with 4.5 sacks. The Broncos must also rediscover their scoring touch if they are to keep pace with the Cowboys’ league-leading attack. While veteran passer Teddy Bridgewater has connected on a respectable 13 scoring passes, the Broncos ground game has produced just one scoring run during the team’s 1-4 slide.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys rose to the occasion without Prescott last weekend. While backup Cooper Rush exceeded expectations by tossing for 325 yards and two scores, it was the Dallas defence that made the difference. The Cowboys limited Minnesota to just 278 total yards and one touchdown while allowing the Vikings defence inside the Dallas 20 on just one occasion. But even if Prescott is able to return to action, injuries remain a concern for Dallas. Receiver Amari Cooper remained limited in practice on Wednesday as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury that leaves his status questionable. He is joined in the clinic by tackle Tyron Smith and cornerback Trevon Diggs, whose status also remains uncertain for Sunday afternoon’s clash.
