Bills vs. Jets Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
In one of the biggest upsets of the season, the Bills lost a bizarre 9-6 game in Jacksonville last week. Buffalo is on the road again in Week 10 for a matchup with the Jets. New York is looking for just their third win of the year, after falling 45-30 in Indianapolis on Thursday Night Football last week.
Buffalo is a heavy 12.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 47.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Bills easily won the season series between these teams last year, beating their AFC East rivals by more than a touchdown in both head-to-heads. The Over/Under split in the two-game series. Despite the big line, Buffalo is still being backed by about 70 per cent of Sports interaction bettors. The total is a closer split, with the Over favoured at a 56 per cent rate.
Buffalo’s shocking loss last week dropped them to 2-2 on the road this year. That road record could improve though, as the Bills have won 10 of their last 15 games against the Jets, including five of their last seven in New York. Buffalo is 4-3-1 against the spread in 2021. The total has gone Over in nine of the Bills’ last 13 road games, including two of four this season.
The Jets have started the season with a heavy road schedule, so it’s worth noting they’ve actually won two of their three home games. They’ve also been a good cover option at home, covering in four of their last five games at MetLife Stadium, dating back to last season. They are, however, just 2-6 ATS overall this year. The total has gone Over in five straight games for New York.
Buffalo Bills
After coming into the season with expectations to cruise through the AFC East and win the division, the Bills find themselves in a tight race with the Patriots. Every win is going to count for the rest of the year. Last week’s game against Jacksonville was a disaster. Josh Allen completed 31 of his 47 passing attempts, finishing with 264 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Allen also recorded one fumble. He had a second late fumble, but the refs ruled his progress was stopped. Discipline was a big issue. Buffalo was penalized 12 times for 118 yards.
Your bizarre stat of the game comes from a sack Allen took from Jacksonville’s…Josh Allen. It’s the first time a quarterback has been sacked by a player with the same name since the NFL started counting sacks in 1982. Also strange is the fact both Josh Allens were selected with the seventh overall pick in consecutive drafts.
Keep an eye on the status of running back Zack Moss. Moss hasn’t practiced this week and is in concussion protocol after leaving last week’s game with a head injury. Cornerback Taron Johnson was also in concussion protocol after leaving the Jacksonville game early, but he was at least able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday.
New York Jets
Mike White has been announced as the Week 10 starter as rookie quarterback Zach Wilson continues to deal with a knee injury. Wilson has struggled this year and sits second-last in completion percentage among rookie quarterbacks (57.5) and last in QB rating (63.5). White was forced out of the Indianapolis game in the first quarter with an injured arm. His first career start came in Week 9, when he threw for 405 yards and three TDs. Josh Johnson threw for 317 yards, three TDs and an interception in relief of White last week. Both White and Johnson have outperformed Wilson.
Safety Marcus Maye and tight end Tyler Kroft both left last week’s game early and have been placed on injured reserve. Maye tore his Achilles, while Kroft is dealing with a chest injury. New York signed Elijah Riley off the Eagles’ practice squad to replace Maye. Riley appeared in one game for Philadelphia this year and five last year. He was almost entirely on special teams in those games.
