Bills vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 13 Odds
The Cowboys are called America’s Team and are the NFL’s most popular club. Wasn’t always that way. Things started changing in 1966 when former legendary Cowboys team president and general manager Tex Schramm opted to have his team play on Thanksgiving that year. The team set an attendance record with 80,000 fans to watch the Cowboys beat Cleveland.
Dallas playing every Thanksgiving since (for the most part) has helped make it America’s Team. Only the Detroit Lions have played more on the holiday – they aren’t America’s team because the Cowboys have been historically successful overall and the Lions haven’t in the Super Bowl era. The Cowboys are 31-19-1 all-time Thanksgiving.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Buffalo is playing on the holiday for the first time since 1994 when they lost 35-21 in Detroit. That Bills team was coming off four straight Super Bowl appearances and losses. This will be the Bills’ second-ever trip to AT&T Stadium in Arlington and only the sixth meeting against the Cowboys since Super Bowl XXVIII in January 1994, which Dallas won 30-13.
The home team is 4-0-1 ATS in the past five meetings.
Buffalo Bills
Buffalo holds down the AFC’s top Wild-Card spot as things stand and is 8-3 for the first time since 1996. Might be frauds as the Bills have played just two teams that currently have a winning record. The Bills beat a bad Denver team 20-3 on Sunday in Buffalo. Josh Allen threw for two scores and rushed for 56 yards. Rookie Devin Singletary had 106 yards rushing on 21 carries, and ageless Frank Gore 65 yards on 15 carries.
You may not think of Frank Gore as a Hall of Famer, but he’s now third all-time in the NFL with 15,289 rushing yards. Gore passed Hall of Famer Barry Sanders on Sunday. The Bills do have a very good defence and forced a three-and-out on the Broncos’ final five drives of the game. Buffalo is 1-4 ATS in its past five Thursday games.
Dallas Cowboys
The seat of Dallas coach Jason Garrett got much hotter on Sunday as owner Jerry Jones publicly expressed his displeasure with his team’s 13-9 loss at New England on Sunday. Dallas entered with the NFL’s No. 1 offence in terms of yardage but didn’t find the end zone. It was a brutal weather game with sheets of rain. Garrett made a puzzling decision to kick a field goal with about six minutes left even though it still would have required a touchdown to win the game.
Top receiver Amari Cooper was held without a catch. Dallas hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record this year. Excellent second-year linebacker Leighton Vander Esch was out due to injury. The Cowboys are 7-1 ATS in their past eight November games.
