There are lots of complex playoff scenarios in Week 17 but for the Baltimore Ravens, it’s quite simple: win and they’re in.

The Ravens are currently the No. 5 seed in the AFC and would hold onto that spot by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals, who have all but tapped out on the 2017 season. The Bengals did show life last week, beating the Detroit Lions. Could they get up for this game in a sendoff for outgoing head coach Marvin Lewis?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

For a second week in a row, the Ravens are a double-digit home favorite. While they are 2-0 straight up in that role this season, they are just 1-1 ATS. The Bengals haven’t been a road dog of 7.5 to 10 points at any point in the last three years, so that gives you an indication of how bad this year has been.

The Ravens are 4-1 ATS this year and 12-4 ATS in their last 12 against division opponents. The Ravens have won 14 of the last 21 meetings as the host, going 12-8-2 ATS in that span. The under has cashed in four of the last five meetings.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals came to life last week and beat one team that was fighting for their playoff lives. After eliminating the Detroit Lions, maybe they’ll rally for the cause once again to eliminate the Ravens.

The Ravens are coming off a bit of a concerning effort. They were a 14-point favorite over the hapless Indianapolis Colts but the Ravens barely hung on for the win. They needed a red zone stop at the end of the game to eke out the win. The Bengals are a better team than Indy and if the Ravens play like that again, Cincinnati could pull this out.

Baltimore Ravens

Although they aren’t getting much attention, few teams are playing better than the Ravens these days. They’ve won five of their last six games and their offense has come to life. Quarterback Joe Flacco, who was maligned for much of the season, has been fantastic in the month of December. He’s completing 64.9% of his passes, averaging 7.04 per attempt and has thrown for seven touchdowns and one interception this month. More importantly, he’s averaging 265.8 passing yards per game and the team is scoring 33.0 points per game. That’s an incredible turnaround when you consider they were averaging 21.5 points per game before December.

The Bengals have all but quit on the season. Yes, they beat the Detroit Lions last week but that was more of a contest of who wanted to lose the game the least. The Bengals have lost three of four overall and four of their last five on the road. They’ve scored just 13.6 points per game in those five road games. As long as the Ravens don’t play a sloppy game and give the Bengals early life, this should be an easy win.
