Bengals vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction
Cincy is priced as a 3.5-point favourite on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
This week’s Bengals-Giants matchup could have been flexed out of the Sunday night window and there was chatter that NBC was interested in subbing the game out for Commanders-Ravens and an intriguing QB matchup between Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson, but CBS “protected” Washington-Baltimore in Sunday afternoon.
It’s not likely either of these clubs gets to the playoffs. Cincinnati’s 1-4 mark is a bit misleading as it could pretty easily be 5-1 as the four defeats are by a combined 15 points. The Bengals are now +140 to reach the postseason and -165 to miss. If they miss for second straight year, I believe Coach Zac Taylor is in trouble.
Giants coach Brian Daboll might not return to his job in 2025, either, if New York finishes with a losing mark for a second straight season. Daboll and QB Daniel Jones were the toast of New York in 2022 when the Giants reached the playoffs in Daboll’s first year but not much has gone right since.
Cincinnati is 6-5 all-time vs. New York, all played in the regular season. Bengals QB Joe Burrow has never faced the Giants because he was injured in 2020 when Big Blue won 19-17 in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Bengals
Not only did Cincinnati blow a 38-28 home lead to Baltimore on Sunday with about five minutes left in regulation and lose 41-38 in overtime, but the Bengals also lost a key part of their struggling defence to a season-ending injury in Dax Hill. He tore the ACL in his right knee toward the end of the first quarter. Hill had been Cincinnati’s best outside cornerback, but that defence ranks 30th in the league in points allowed per drive and next to last in defensive success rate. Joe Burrow threw for a career-high five touchdowns in the loss but also a costly interception in the fourth quarter that would lead to Baltimore forcing OT. All NFL QBs with at least five TD passes had won 18 straight games. Usually accurate kicker Evan McPherson missed a 53-yard try to win it in overtime, but a poor hold by rookie punter Ryan Rehkow played a role. McPherson had made 14 straight field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime prior to that miss. Running back Zack Moss left with an ankle injury, but it’s not expected to be serious. Cincinnati is 10-1 SU in its past 11 vs. the NFC.
New York Giants
The Giants can look so bad one week and then pretty good the next, and the good version showed up Sunday in a 29-20 upset in Seattle despite New York tailback Eric Gray giving Seattle a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when he fumbled into the Seahawks end zone on fourth-and-goal from the 1 and it was returned 102 yards for a touchdown. Gray didn’t see many more touches after that with rookie Tyrone Tracy rushing 18 times for 129 yards. No. 1 tailback Devin Singletary was out injured as was stellar rookie WR Malik Nabers, an early Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate. New York clinched the win with a 60-yard blocked field goal return for a TD with 55 seconds remaining. It was the Giants’ first touchdown on a field goal block since Sept. 18, 2016. QB Daniel Jones had two TD passes and now has a rating of 106.7 on the road this year compared to 62.4 at home. The nine-point margin of victory was the Giants’ fourth largest overall and second largest on the road in Coach Brian Daboll’s three seasons. The Under is 5-1 in New York’s past six games.
