One of the best rivalries in football is reignited in Week 18 as the Green Bay Packers play host to the Chicago Bears.

These teams are in very different spots heading into the regular season finale.

The Bears’ abysmal season hit a new low with last week’s embarrassing 6-3 loss to Seattle in their home finale. Chicago will now finish last in the NFC North division for a third straight season and miss the playoffs for a fourth straight year.

The Packers are playoff bound despite last week’s 27-25 loss in Minnesota. Green Bay should still be motivated with playoff seeding on the line.

The Pack are heavy 10-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 41.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This may be an old rivalry, but it’s also been a lopsided one in recent years, with Green Bay winning 10 straight games. The Packers are 9-1 against the spread in those games, although Chicago’s one cover came in Week 11 this season when the Bears lost 20-19 as six-point underdogs.

Overall, however, Chicago has been a terrible cover option this year, going 0-7 ATS on the road. Green Bay is a solid 6-2 ATS at home and they have covered in 10 of their last 11 games against the Bears.

Both teams lean toward lower scoring contests. The total has gone Under in seven of Chicago’s last 10 games and the Packers have finished below the number in five of eight home dates.

Chicago Bears

The Bears are playing for whatever pride they can salvage as they look to snap a 10-game losing streak. Since that streak began, Chicago ranks 28th in offensive and 26th in defensive EPA (expected points added). Caleb Williams, who threw for just 122 yards and no TDs last week, also ranks 25th out of 26 qualified quarterbacks in adjusted EPA per play and dead last in success rate. To be blunt, this team is terrible on both sides of the ball.

Green Bay Packers

Green Bay is slinging the football right now, racking up at least 30 points in five of their last six games and it took a strong Vikings defence to hold them to 25 last week. The Packers can move up to the No. 6 seed in the NFC with a win, so expect them to use this week as a playoff tuneup game. Jordan Love hasn’t thrown an interception in six straight games, but he’s also been limited to under 200 passing yards in each of the last two weeks. I think Love will find his rhythm this week and use this as a get-right game to build momentum for the playoffs.
