49ers vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 12 Odds, Prediction
It didn’t take long for the Seahawks to become relevant again after Russell Wilson’s departure. They were a playoff team last year and were ousted by non-other than the 49ers in the Wild Card round. Seattle needs to bounce back after a frustrating 17-16 loss to the Rams in L.A. San Francisco enjoyed hosting the Buccaneers in Week 11, defeating them with relative ease, 27-14.
The NFL odds side with Kyle Shanahan’s San Franciscan ensemble, pegging it at -6.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
For the last three seasons, the story of this northern West Coast rivalry has been one of season sweeps. The Seahawks won both games in 2020, then again in 2021. Last season, including the Wild Card match, the 49ers took all three. They may not be as evenly matched as back in the days when last plays in Week 17 of Sunday Night Football were required to decide the division or when they tussled in for the NFC Championship, but there is still some moxie in Seattle-San Francisco tilts.
Neither Seattle nor San Francisco are familiar with the Thanksgiving scene. The Californian club has played only six times. Incidentally, one of those ended in a draw, thus putting their record at 3-2-1. Of note, their most recent Thanksgiving bout was in 2014 against the Seahawks. Seattle arrived in the Bay Area and claimed an emphatic 19-3 victory. The Seahawks themselves are 2-2 all-time on Thanksgiving.
As for spreads, it’s been a bit tough for the 49ers this year given their 5-5 record. The recent three-game outright losing streak didn’t help. They haven’t covered in four of their last five games. Seattle is no better ATS, what with its meandering 4-5-1 tally.
San Francisco 49ers
How many people truly doubted the outcome of the 49ers game on Sunday when they hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Looking back, it was very much a “business as usual” sort of performance.
How could it not be when the offence gets the NFL’s leading rusher Christian McCaffrey going early and often? A clinical opening drive produced a 7-0 lead and the hosts simply continued from there. Both Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle are more than good enough to make for a quiet day from Deebo Samuel. Aiyuk scored a glorious 76-yard TD in the third quarter that broke the game open before Kittle did his usual red zone business shortly thereafter. Defensively San Francisco put on a “bend but don’t break” effort. Tampa Bay did march down the field a decent number of times, especially in the fourth quarter, but a vintage turnover and another on downs put a succinct conclusion to any comeback aspirations. 49ers win, 27-14.

Seattle Seahawks
Thursday’s Thanksgiving match versus the 49ers carries even greater magnitude due to the opportunity Seattle let slip through its fingers last Sunday against the Rams.
Los Angeles has experienced a meandering campaign thus far and was ripe for the picking by Seattle. For the second time this season, the Seahawks were unable to deal with the Californian club. More worrisome was that QB Geno Smith got banged up in the third quarter on a massive hit from Aaron Donald. Drew Lock filled in for a bit before Smith return late in the game. He’s officially listed as questionable as of Tuesday morning. Overall it was a frustrating day, with only one drive ending in a touchdown (DK Metcalf, who else). Other than that it was a trio of field goals from Jason Meyers, who missed the game-winner at the very end.
That the Seahawks led by nine in the second half against an inconsistent Rams attack yet couldn’t hold on is frustrating enough. It was a chance to head into Thanksgiving evening at 7-3, just like San Francisco, but with the 17-16 loss they’re 6-4 and trail their rivals.
