49ers vs. Rams Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction

The NFC West’s top team the Los Angeles Rams are not expected to sit any of their players (not on the injury list) for this match-up against the 49ers. Although second place in the conference is not officially wrapped up, the likelihood of a first round bye is strong, and they don’t want to get stale heading into the second week of NFL post season.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Rams hammered the 49ers in week seven in San Francisco 39-10. George Kittle was the team’s top offensive weapon, catching five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. He’s been the team’s offensive weapon all season long, and is on pace to set franchise records by a Tight End this season. Todd Gurley scored three touchdowns in the win.

Despite the loss this season, the 49ers have won four out of the last six games against the Rams dating back to 2016. The Rams are 6-1 straight up at home, but 0-4-1 against the spread in the last five home games, and 0-5 ATS in their last five games in week 17.

The 49ers are 1-4 against the division this season and 1-6 ATS against the conference.

San Francisco 49ers

Obviously this was a down year for the 49ers franchise, but that’s what happens when any team losses their star quarterback early in the season, and then hope to pencil out some sort of year. 2018 will go down in history as the year the team lost Jimmy Garoppolo in week three against the Chiefs, and the struggle continued all season long.

Despite a 4-11 record, the Niners have been a competitive team to a point this season under third string Quarterback Nick Mullens. They enter this game as winners of two of the last three games. In this final week of the regular season, the team announced that Running back Matt Breida and Receiver Dante Pettis are done for the season due to various injuries as the team looks for their first road win of the season. The last time the 49ers went 0-8 in a regular season was 1979 under then first year Head Coach Bill Walsh.

The 49ers defence, currently ranked 10th in the NFL has been the team’s strong point this season. They will be tested against one of the league’s best offensive attack.

Los Angeles Rams

No Todd Gurley last week, no problem for the Rams. Gurley was a late scratch in the team’s 31-9 win over the Cardinals in week 16 last week. His replacement, CJ Anderson, who was signed the on the Wednesday previous to the Sunday game raced for 167 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. Because this team hopes to have a long playoff run, don’t be surprised to see Anderson in the line-up once again this weekend against the 49ers.

The Rams need a win to officially clinch the number two spot behind the Saints in the NFC. They can also clinch second spot with a Bear loss to the Vikings.

It’s all about keeping this offence on track. The team is ranked second in total offence averaging 424.1 yards per game, and third in points scored averaging 31.9 per game. Quarterback Jared Goff controlled the offence well throwing for 216 yards and did not throw an interception in a game for the first time in just over a month.
