The Los Angeles Rams are suddenly the team to beat in the crowded NFC West – and they can enhance their playoff chances even more with a victory over the rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon. The Rams come into Week 12 in a first-place tie with the Seattle Seahawks, and will be looking for a measure of revenge after falling 24-16 in San Francisco in their last meeting. The 49ers have dropped three in a row, all by double digits.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Oddsmakers have made the Rams a 6.5-point favourite for the second and final meeting of the season between these California rivals – a generous line for a 49ers team that hasn’t looked competitive in more than a month. San Francisco has been a poor cover option of late, having gone just 2-5 ATS in its previous seven contests. The Rams, on the other hand, have won six straight at home and are an impressive 4-2 ATS in their previous six games overall.

The total has settled in at 45, a whopping 6.5 points lower than their previous encounter. That drop has compelled nearly 70 percent of Sports Interaction participants to side with the Over, despite trends that point the other way (at least from L.A.’s side of things). The Rams have gone below the number in six of their previous seven games, with an average of fewer than 40 total points scored in that span. They’re also 5-1 to the Under in their last six vs. NFC foes.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are in the middle of one of the toughest stretches any team will face this season, about to play the fourth of a five-game span against teams with winning percentages of .700 or higher. Yet, while 2020 is looking more and more like a lost season in San Francisco, head coach Kyle Shanahan has already given injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo a vote of confidence, saying he’s comfortable with Garoppolo as the starter once he returns.

Los Angeles Rams

You wouldn’t know it from the way they were discounted earlier in the season, but the Rams have evolved into one of the more dangerous teams in the league. Not only are they allowing the second-fewest points in the NFL (19.2), they also rank inside the top 10 in both average passing yards (272.8) and rushing yards (124.5). Quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for 300+ yards in three straight games but has just four TDs with four INTs in that span.
