49ers vs. Jaguars Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
So the 49ers either felt angered with last week’s bye week, as the three-game losing streak didn’t have a chance to be snapped. Or they felt thankful for the chance to heal up and get an extra week of preparation. Problem is Jacksonville had a bye week and an extra week to build off their five-game win streak.
With a win the 5-3 49ers can hold the top spot in the NFC West, while a win for 6-2 Jacksonville can almost put them into uncatchable territory atop the AFC South. Kickoff at EverBank Stadium gets going at 1 p.m. EST with the 49ers a three-point road favourite and the total at 45 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The last five meetings between these two clubs has a heavy advantage toward San Francisco. The 49ers are 4-1 outright and have covered in all five games. Four of the last six 49ers-Jaguars contests have finished under the total, and the under’s the more substantial trend with both of these teams. Only one of the 49ers four road games this season has finished over the total. Six of Jacksonville’s last seven November contests have finished under too.
One other trend to know: the Jaguars have struggled a ton against NFC opponents with wins in three of their last 20 games versus the NFC. San Francisco has recently found success against AFC South teams, winning eight of their last 11 matchups with the division Jacksonville leads.
San Francisco 49ers
For the first time in his short NFL career, Brock Purdy is facing some adversity for the 49ers. The second-year quarterback has found his offence stuck at scoring exactly 17 points in San Fran’s current three-game skid. And while Purdy’s set to get Deebo Samuel back from a shoulder injury that kept him out of their last outing, the left side of the 49ers offensive line is up in limbo. All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams didn’t practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, and left guard Aaron Banks will be out this week with a toe injury.
Purdy hasn’t gotten the usual help from his D during this losing streak too. While the 49ers defence remains a top 10 unit in yards allowed this season, over their last three outings they rank second-worst in the NFL with 395 yards given up per game. Expect that to change Sunday.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Bend but don’t break is what you can refer to as the Jaguars defence. Their defence is 23rd this season with 342.8 yards allowed per game, but eighth in the NFL where it matters most: points allowed. A plus-five turnover differential is a strong factor to why Jacksonville’s been able to win five straight; Jacksonville is tied for the NFL lead with 18 takeaways too.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is coming off one of his stronger outings too. The 2021 first overall pick has dipped more into the “game manager” role this season with 241 passing yards per game and nine total touchdowns in eight starts, but it’s a winning formula at the end of the day. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. is who’s doing the heavy lifting in this offence, registering 178 touches in Jacksonville’s eight games and has the sixth-most all-purpose yards in the NFL.
