49ers vs. Buccaneers Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction

Two 4-1 teams clash at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, as the NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the San Francisco 49ers – who are currently atop the NFC West.

The depleted 49ers improved to 3-0 in the division with a 23-20 overtime win at the Los Angeles Rams last Thursday. Mac Jones completed 33 of 49 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns, and Christian McCaffrey totalled 139 yards from scrimmage and caught a touchdown pass.

Baker Mayfield completed 29 of 33 passes for 379 yards and two touchdowns, rookie superstar Emeka Egbuka had seven catches for 163 yards and a score and linebacker Lavonte David had a critical interception in the final minute, as Tampa Bay defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 38-35.

The 49ers will see if they can continue their strong shorthanded play and stay undefeated on the road this weekend.

Tampa Bay is a 3-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 47.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

San Francisco is 3-0 straight up and against the spread on the road, where they have played to the over in four of their past five games.

The Bucs are 3-2 against the spread, but 0-2 ATS at home, where they have played to the over twice. Tampa Bay is 4-2 against the spread in its last six meetings with the 49ers. Moreover, the Bucs have played to the over in four of their last five home contests.

Mayfield, who has thrown 10 touchdowns this season, is currently -175 to throw more than 1.5 touchdown passes Sunday.

Egbuka, who leads all rookies with 445 yards receiving, is currently -150 to grab more than 4.5 receptions and -115 to tally more than 68.5 yards. He has done the latter in three consecutive contests.

San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco is the walking wounded on both sides of the ball. The team already lost Nick Bosa for the season, then saw starting defensive linemen Kalia Davis (broken hand) and Yetur Gross-Matos (injured hamstring) drop during the win over the Rams.

Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauaun Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall were all missing from the offence, but Jones, McCaffrey, and veteran Kendrick Bourne (career-high 10 catches, 142 yards) all had banner days.

Purdy is still listed as weak-to-weak, but Jones has been more than capable off the bench.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No Mike Evans, no problem. The Buccaneers’ future Hall-of-Fame wide receiver has missed two straight games, but Egbuka’s emergence has quelled fears about the position. Tampa Bay was without defensive backs Jamel Dean and Benjamin Morrison, and the secondary was picked apart by Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.

The team is comfortable with close contests, becoming the first team in NFL history to win four times by three points or less in its first five games.

NFL Prediction: Who Will Win 49ers vs. Buccaneers?

This is crazy. Both teams come in having played five one-score contests, winning four of them. San Francisco is plus-8 through five contests, and Tampa Bay is plus-3. That means neither side flinches down the stretch, not with Mayfield’s moxie or Jones’ resurgence.

This one will most likely come down to the last quarter, if not the last possession. The 49ers are certainly comfortable on the road, but knocking off Mayfield at home feels like a tall task with several backups still starting. Look for Tampa Bay to win, 28-24.
