2025 NFL MVP Betting Odds and Predictions: Can Josh Allen go back-to-back?
The start of the 2025/26 NFL season is less than two weeks away. That makes now a perfect time to discuss the favourites to be named this year’s AP NFL MVP, unofficially known as the top quarterback award, since signal callers have won all but four times in the past 25 years.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills won last year’s award, narrowly edging two-time winner Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was the last non-QB to win the award in 2012, so your best bet is to look under centre for this year’s award winner, and several familiar names are in the mix again.

NFL MVP Odds
Jackson is the current favourite at +550. He threw for 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns to just four interceptions last year, adding 915 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Allen, who barely edged Jackson while throwing for 3,731 yards and totalling 40 touchdowns, is listed at +600.
That’s the same odds as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who led the NFL with 4,918 yards passing and 43 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes threw for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns and is listed at +650 odds, while last year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders, is listed at +900. He threw for 3,568 yards, rushed for 891, and totalled 31 touchdowns.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who finished third in last year’s voting while rushing for 2,005 yards and totalling 25 touchdowns, has the best non-quarterback odds at +5000. There are 15 quarterbacks with odds better than his.
NFL MVP Best Bet: Joe Burrow +600
Burrow is the best quarterback yet to win an MVP award. His numbers last year were dominant. His team’s 9-8 record was not, which is one of the two biggest challenges for Burrow in this MVP race. The other problem is the Bengals’ form to start the season, as they’ve gone 0-2 out of the gates in each of the past three seasons.
In 2022, the team overcame that start to reach the AFC Championship Game. However, over the last two seasons, those poor starts have led to average, 9-8 campaigns without playoff appearances. Burrow needs to lead the team back into AFC North contention, passing the Steelers and, potentially, the Ravens along the way.
The second aspect is Burrow’s health. Last year, he won the league’s Comeback Player of the Year award…for the second time in four years. If Burrow stays on the field and the Bengals win, he’s got as good a shot as any of the other favourites.
NFL MVP Prediction: Lamar Jackson +550
Taking Burrow, Allen again, or even Daniels to build on his rookie season is tempting, but Jackson is another great pick here. He should have won the award last year, and he’s the best quarterback in the league right now. Remember, this award is for regular-season performance only, so ignore Jackson’s 3-5 postseason record.
The Ravens are primed to make a 12-5 to 14-3 run through a difficult schedule that includes the Chiefs, Bills, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins, in addition to two clashes each with the Steelers and Bengals. If they take home the #1 seed in the AFC again, Jackson will win his third MVP in the process.
