Spread

Most sportsbooks had San Francisco open as a 2.5-point favourite to win, but early betting support for Kansas City quickly dropped the line to -1, so it’s worth monitoring the spread as we get closer to game day.

Total

The opening total of 47.5 points hasn’t immediately fluctuated, but that number could grow over the next two weeks. The Super Bowl attracts a lot of novice bettors who tend to favour the Over, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the total move to 50 or above. Six of the last seven Super Bowls have had a game total set at 50 points or more by opening kickoff.

Moneyline

San Francisco opened as -135 moneyline favourites on Sunday night, but that number dropped to -120 by Monday morning. Kansas City shifted from short +125 underdogs to +100. Like the spread, keep an eye on the shifting moneyline.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers earned the NFC’s top seed after finishing the regular season with a 12-5 record. However, the playoffs haven’t gone nearly as smoothly. After a first-round bye, San Francisco barely scraped past Green Bay in a 24-21 win. It looked even more bleak in the NFC Championship game as the Niners trailed Detroit by 17 points at the half. If the Lions hadn’t puked all over themselves, this could have been a much different looking Super Bowl. Can the San Francisco 49ers get back to their regular season form, or is there a major flaw in this team?

Kansas City Chiefs

Kanas City is punishing bettors who doubted them. The Chiefs won their eighth straight AFC West crown with an 11-6 record in the regular season and they reached their fourth Super Bowl in the last five seasons the hard way. KC crushed Miami in the Wild Card round, they earned a hard-fought win against Buffalo in the divisional round and they dismantled Baltimore in the AFC Championship game. With Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce both heating up, do the Kansas City Chiefs have what it takes to be the first Super Bowl repeat winners since the 2003-04 New England Patriots?
