2023 NFL Week 17 Power Rankings

Daniel Coyle | Updated Dec 28, 2023

The Buccaneers and Browns continue their steady gains while the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos are among the teams to make the biggest dips.

An ability to produce consistent results at the sportsbook has finally caught up with the San Francisco 49ers, who have been bounced from the top of our NFL Betting Power Rankings in the wake of last weekend’s lopsided loss to Baltimore.

Here are the NFL Betting Power Rankings for Week 17.

1. Baltimore Ravens SU: 12-3

ATS: 10-5

Super Bowl Odds: +400

Last week’s ranking: 2

The Ravens have found a higher gear on offence while climbing to the top of the NFL standings during a 9-1 SU run during which they have topped 30 points seven times. Baltimore closes out its schedule with two dates at home, where they have produced mixed results, going 5-2 SU but just 4-3 ATS.

2. Miami Dolphins SU: 11-4

ATS: 10-5

Super Bowl Odds: +800

Last week’s ranking: 3

The Dolphins control their own playoff destiny after winning five of their past six, and have also paid out against the spread in four of five outings. But disappointing results against topflight opponents leave remove concern ahead of season-ending clashes with Baltimore and Buffalo.

3. Cleveland Browns SU: 10-5

ATS: 9-5-1

Super Bowl Odds: +5000

Last week’s ranking: 5

SU and ATS winners in three straight, each with Joe Flacco under center, the Browns are poised to clinch a playoff spot with a win on Thursday night.

4. Detroit Lions SU: 11-4

ATS: 10-5

Super Bowl Odds: +1800

Last week’s ranking: 8

Can the Lions maintain the momentum that has lifted them to the NFC North title as they seek to chase down the Niners for the NFC top seed? Now sporting a 6-2 SU and ATS record on the road, the Lions are worth backing as they get set to play their most meaningful Week 17 game in team history.

5. San Francisco 49ers SU:  11-4

ATS: 8-7

Super Bowl Odds: +240

Last week’s ranking: 1

The 49ers saw their six-game SU win streak and sole possession of first place in the NFC ended by last weekend’s 33-19 loss to Baltimore. The Niners are a middling 3-3 ATS in their past six overall, and have failed to cover in four straight home dates.

6. Buffalo Bills SU: 9-6

ATS: 6-9

Super Bowl Odds: +1100

Last week’s ranking: 9

The Bills have righted the ship with wins in four of five games. However, their inability to dominate as expected in last week’s narrow 24-22 win over the Chargers leaves cause for concern.

7. Philadelphia Eagles SU: 11-4

ATS: 7-6-2

Super Bowl Odds: +800

Last week’s ranking: 10

The Eagles snapped a worrisome 0-3 SU slide with last weekend’s win over the Giants, but remain a massive betting disappointment after seeing their ATS losing streak extend to four games. Philly is just 3-3-1 ATS at home this season, and winless ATS in five outings while favored by six or more points.

8. Dallas Cowboys SU: 10-5

ATS: 9-6

Super Bowl Odds: +1000

Last week’s ranking: 6

The Cowboys have failed a crucial test to determine whether they are a legit Super Bowl threat with back-to-back decisive losses in Buffalo and Miami. Things get easier this weekend against Detroit at home, where they have won 15 straight regular season games. But the Eagles are the only legit playoff team they have defeated over that stretch.

9. Los Angeles Rams SU: 7-7

ATS: 9-5-1

Super Bowl Odds: +6600

Last week’s ranking: 11

The Rams have resuscitated their playoff hopes by winning five of their past six, and have also covered in five straight ahead of two very winnable games to end their schedule.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers SU: 8-7

ATS: 10-5

Super Bowl Odds: +6600

Last week’s ranking: 14

The Buccaneers have seized control of the top of the NFC South standings during an impressive 4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS run, and with the Bucs defence allowing just 18.8 points per game over that stretch, this team is well positioned win out in their final two games against division rivals.

11. Indianapolis Colts SU: 8-7

ATS: 9-6

Super Bowl Odds: +8000

Last week’s ranking: 4

The Colts have been brought down out of the clouds by two decisive losses over their past three games, but will enjoy the benefit of home cooking in their final two contests against opponents that have struggled on the road.

12. Chicago Bears SU: 6-9

ATS: 7-7-1

Super Bowl Odds: +10000

Last week’s ranking: 16

The Bears have enjoyed a late-season surge since Justin Fields returned from injury. In addition to winning four of six, the Bears have covered in five of seven, and are 5-0 ATS in their past five as underdogs.

13. Seattle Seahawks SU: 8-7

ATS: 8-5-2

Super Bowl Odds: +6600

Last week’s ranking: 17

Consecutive outright wins have kept the Seahawks in the NFC wild card hunt going into Week 17. Seattle has also suffered just one ATS loss in six games, and is 4-1 ATS in their past five as underdogs.

14. Cincinnati Bengals SU: 8-7

ATS: 6-7-2

Super Bowl Odds: +25000

Last week’s ranking: 7

Humbled in last weekend’s 34-11 loss to Pittsburgh that snapped a three-game surge, the Bengals have failed to generate steady results during their late-season surge into contention, going just 2-4-1 ATS over their past seven.

15. Kansas City Chiefs SU: 9-6

ATS: 7-7-1

Super Bowl Odds: +800

Last week’s ranking: 13

The Chiefs inexplicable swoon continued with last weekend’s shocking 20-14 loss to Las Vegas that dumps them to 3-5 SU and 2-5-1 ATS in their past eight including three straight demoralizing losses on home turf.

16. Las Vegas Raiders SU: 7-8

ATS: 8-6-1

Super Bowl Odds: +75000

Last week’s ranking: 21

The Raiders may be all but out of playoff contention, but have made an about-face at the sportsbook, where they have gone 5-1-1 ATS over their past seven games after going 3-5 ATS to start the season.

17. New Orleans Saints SU: 7-8

ATS: 4-10-1

Super Bowl Odds: +20000

Last week’s ranking: 18

The Saints’ playoff hopes were dealt a severe blow by last week’s loss to the Rams, and with their backs to the walls, they enter Week 17’s visit to Tampa Bay in desperate need of a turnaround on the road, where they are currently enduring a 2-5 SU and ATS run.

18. Denver Broncos SU: 7-8

ATS: 5-9-1

Super Bowl Odds: +75000

Last week’s ranking: 12

With SU and ATS losses in three of their past four games, and Russell Wilson’s days in the Mile High City seemingly over, the Broncos look poised to play out the string on yet another also-ran campaign.

19. Houston Texans SU: 8-7

ATS: 7-8

Super Bowl Odds: +10000

Last week’s ranking: 15

With opposing defences having solved the attack that made the Texans the darling of the league early on, Houston has now lost three of five, while covering just three of their past nine.

20. Green Bay Packers SU: 7-8

ATS: 7-8

Super Bowl Odds: +15000

Last week’s ranking: 19

The Packers’ inability to shut down opposing offences has cost them dearly at the sportsbook, where they are winless ATS in three straight. The Pack are also a dismal 1-5 ATS in their past six road games.

21. Atlanta Falcons SU: 7-8

ATS: 5-10

Super Bowl Odds: +25000

Last week’s ranking: 26

The Falcons saved their season with last weekend’s win over Indy. However, this team has won just two of seven on the road, where they will have averaged just 14.7 points per game and play their final two games against defence-first opponents.

22. New York Giants SU: 5-10

ATS: 6-8-1

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 22

The Giants have returned to form while losing their past two games. However, this team could surprise as they get set to play their final two games at home, where they have gone 3-1 SU and 3-0-1 ATS over their past four while allowing just 12.3 points per game.

23. Carolina Panthers SU: 2-13

ATS: 5-9-1

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 27

The Panthers are coming off their best offensive performance of the season, and have also covered in three of their past four. Could they play kingmakers as they get set to battle division leaders in their final two contests?

24. New England Patriots SU: 4-11

ATS: 4-10-1

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 28

With last weekend’s win in Denver, the Patriots have now won two straight on the road and are undefeated ATS over their past three games. Can they rise to the occasion this weekend when they visit the archrival Bills, who have struggled at the sportsbook this season.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers SU: 8-7

ATS: 8-7

Super Bowl Odds: +30000

Last week’s ranking: 30

With Mason Rudolph under centre, the Steelers snapped a three-game SU and ATS slide with last weekend’s 34-11 rout of the Bengals. Still in the hunt for an AFC wild card spot, the Steelers close out their schedule on the road, where they have averaged just 13 points per game while losing two of three.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars SU: 8-7

ATS: 8-7

Super Bowl Odds: +4000

Last week’s ranking: 20

The Jaguars find themselves on the verge of freefall after losing SU and ATS in four straight. With Trevor Lawrence battling injury, the Jags have mustered just 19 total points over their past two games.

27. Arizona Cardinals SU: 3-12

ATS: 7-8

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 24

The Cardinals have continued to give up big point totals while losing their past two, ending a promising 4-2 ATS run, and a dismal 1-10 SU slide on the road is likely to get extended in this weekend’s visit to Philly.

28. New York Jets SU: 6-9

ATS: 5-9-1

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 29

The Jets have discovered their offensive groove while recording consecutive wins at home. However, they have covered just once in their past nine overall, including three straight losses on the road, where they play their final two games.

29. Tennessee Titans SU: 5-10

ATS: 6-8-1

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 23

Losers in two straight while scoring just 33 total points, the Titans have also covered in just three of 11 contests heading into back-to-back divisional matchups against teams in desperate need of wins.

30. Minnesota Vikings SU: 7-8

ATS: 7-5-3

Super Bowl Odds: +20000

Last week’s ranking: 25

The Vikings have won just one of five and are winless ATS in their past four. A 2-5 SU record at home does not bode well for their fading playoff hopes ahead of this weekend’s visit from Green Bay.

31. Los Angeles Chargers SU: 5-10

ATS: 6-9

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 31

The Chargers managed to keep things close in last week’s 24-22 loss to Buffalo, but have covered just twice during their 1-6 SU freefall and are just 1-3 SU against division rivals ahead of back-to-back divisional matchups.

32. Washington Commanders SU: 4-11

ATS: 6-8-1

Super Bowl Odds: OTB

Last week’s ranking: 32

The Commanders have surrendered a massive 34.7 points per game during their current six-game losing streak, and little should be expected from this freefalling squad as they close out the season with dates against the Cowboys and Niners.
