Michigan (3) vs. Villanova (1) Odds: March Madness Prediction
Virginia was the NCAA Tournament selection committee’s No. 1-overall seed and promptly became the first one-seed to lose to a No. 16 team. Villanova was the mostly likely side to cut down in the eyes of oddsmakers and sports bettors before the start of the tournament. Chalk up another win for the sports betting community. The Wildcats are large favourites in March Madness betting to top the Michigan Wolverines in the 2018 college basketball national championship game.
NCAA Tournament Odds and Betting Analysis
The Wolverines are the hottest team in college hoops and enter Monday’s March Madness matchup riding a 14-game winning streak. Michigan took down Loyola-Chicago 69-57 in the national championship semifinals and improved to 11-2-1 against the spread since February 11.
Defense is the backbone of coach John Beilein’s Michigan team. The Maize and Blue are allowing just 62.9 points per game (sixth best in the country) and the under is 4-1 in their last five games.
The Wolverines are 33-7 straight up and 25-12-2 against the spread overall this season and 7-2 ATS when getting points.
Villanova is on a warpath having and just dispelled of Kansas, the Big 12 champion and No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region, in savage fashion. The Wildcats are the biggest favourite in a national championship game since Duke was 7-point chalk against Butler in 2010.
Michigan Wolverines
Michigan proved its postseason chops by winning the Big Ten conference tournament a second straight year earlier this month but it became the first team to make it to the title game without playing a No. 5 or higher seed in the NCAA Tournament.
No. 6 Houston was the best-seeded team the Wolverines beat along the way and they needed a desperation 3-pointer to get by that Round of 32 matchup.
Junior center Mo Wagner is fresh of his best game in the tournament after he put up 24 points and 15 rebounds against the Ramblers on Saturday.
Villanova Wildcats
The Wildcats set a new Final Four record for most made 3-pointers by one team in a game. Villanova topped the old mark (13) before the end of the first half against Kansas and tallied 18 treys by the final whistle. Nova won the national championship in 2016 on a last-second 3-pointer but the squad has yet to play a close game in this year’s tournament. The Wildcats have beaten all their tourney foes by double digits and have an 18.3 point average margin of victory during their current nine-game winning streak.
