Princeton vs. Creighton Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds
The Ivy League Princeton Tigers face No. 6 seed Creighton of the Big East in South Region Sweet 16 action.
The Bluejays opened as 10-point favourites to win on the college basketball odds.
Princeton vs. Creighton NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
The winner of this game will face either No. 1 Alabama (my choice) or No. 5 San Diego State for the South Region title and a trip to the Final Four.
A No. 15 seed like Princeton has never reached the Final Four. The Tigers have reached the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1967. They are +3795 to win the South. Princeton hasn’t faced a Big East team this season.
This is Creighton’s fifth Sweet 16 and second under coach Greg McDermott, with his first coming in 2021. The Bluejays’ lone Elite Eight appearance took place in 1941. They are +190 to win the South. Creighton hasn’t played an Ivy League school this season.
These schools haven’t played since December 1961.
Princeton Tigers (15)
After stunning No. 2 Arizona in Round 1, the Tigers did the same to No. 7 Missouri, 78-63, on Saturday. Yet again smaller Princeton won the rebounding battle, 44-30, over Mizzou. Princeton trailed only once, by one point, and led by double figures for most of the final 25 minutes. It was the largest margin of victory ever in the tournament’s history by a 15 seed. Ryan Langborg led Princeton with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists against Missouri, and Blake Peters had 17 points in just 14 minutes off the bench. He was big as a reserve in Round 1 as well. All-Ivy League big man Tosan Evbuomwan had nine points, nine rebounds and five assists. Dating to Ivy League play, Princeton has averaged just 8.8 turnovers per game during its six-game winning streak (6-0 against the spread).
Creighton Bluejays (6)
We projected Creighton to beat No. 3 Baylor 73-71 in the Round of 32, but the Bluejays made it easier than that with an 85-76 win to improve to 2-11 all-time in their second game of an NCAA Tournament. Guard Ryan Nembhard had a career-high 30 points vs. the Bears, while Ryan Kalkbrenner had 10 points and seven rebounds after a 31-point game in Round 1. Nembhard and Kalkbrenner are the second pair of same-named teammates with a 30-point game in a single NCAA Tournament, joining Memphis State’s Larry Finch and Larry Kenon from 1973. Creighton was 22-for-22 from free throw line vs. Baylor and has made 69-of-75 free throws (92 per cent) in Big East Tournament and NCAA Tournament action. The Bluejays are 23-3 this year when tied or leading at halftime. They are 5-1 ATS in their past six games overall.
