Duke covered despite a whopping line in its first-round contest, cruising to a 22-point victory over Iona. Things were considerably more difficult for the Rams, who needed overtime before ultimately covering in a win over the Oklahoma Sooners.

NCAA Tournament Odds and Betting Analysis

The Blue Devils made bettors sweat the cover last time out, but ultimately prevailed to make it four consecutive covers as a double-digit favourite and eight of 10 overall. Duke looks like it’s rounding into form despite losing to rival North Carolina in the ACC Tournament, and have covered four of their previous five neutral-site games. The Rams are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 neutral-site contests but have failed to cover in four straight games against ACC opponents.

Duke also comes into this one toting a rather emphatic under trend in recent weeks. The Blue Devils have gone below the number eight times in their previous nine contests overall, and are 1-9 O/U in their last 10 games against teams with a winning rate north of 60 percent. Rhode Island has converted the under in five of its previous seven games overall, but is 7-3 O/U in its last 10 neutral-site contests, including Thursday’s 83-78 overtime win over Oklahoma.

Rhode Island Rams

If the Rams have any hope of making it to the Sweet 16, they’ll need to take advantage of their sensational ball control. Rhode Island boasts the nation’s second best per-game turnover ratio (5.2) and finished with a 14-6 turnover advantage against Oklahoma. They’ll also need to be as diligent as ever at defending from beyond the arc; they limited opponents to 5.2 made 3-pointers on 16 attempts during the season, both top-5 marks nationally.

Duke Blue Devils

Many players are using the NCAA Tournament to boost their NBA Draft stock – and talented forward Marvin Bagley III is on the short list of players whose March Madness performance could mean hearing his name called first this June. His 11.3 boards-per-game average has helped Duke become the No. 3 rebounding team in the nation (41.8); he had 22 points and seven rebounds vs. Iona, snapping his double-double streak at three.
