North Texas vs. Purdue Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds
If you’re into watching two basketball teams pass the ball around while they watch the shot clock tick down, this is the matchup for you. The North Texas Mean Green and the Purdue Boilermakers are all about defence and won’t rush to take the ball to the bucket.
North Texas vs. Purdue NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
Purdue checks in here as a 7.5-point favourite, while the total opened at a measly 125.5 points. Early action on the over has moved the total up a point, although it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see some more under bets come in closer to the tip. Purdue is getting a lot of respect with this pointspread and it’s probably warranted. The Boilermakers played the 11th toughest schedule in the country, so you know they’ll be ready for the big stage. They were 11-6-2 against the spread in Big Ten play this year.
North Texas Mean Green
North Texas leans on its experience. The Mean Green have four seniors who accounted for 67 per cent of all of their scoring this year. That quartet also accounted for better than 90 per cent of its team’s points in the last five games. So expect to see a lot of Javion Hamlet, Zachary Simmons, Thomas Bell and James Reese. North Texas’ defence ranked 42nd overall and this team will literally squeeze every second out of the shot clock each time down the floor.
Purdue Boilermakers
After battling it out in the Big Ten all season, the Boilermakers aren’t going to be afraid of anyone in this tournament. They just took Ohio State to overtime last week before eventually losing and limited the high-flying Buckeyes offence to only 23 points in the second half. Trevion Williams is the star of the team, averaging 15.6 points and nine rebounds per game, and does have a solid supporting cast. Purdue is also the only team from Indiana playing in the Tournament, so while they won’t have the benefit of a home crowd, travel won’t be an issue.
