Miami vs. Texas Elite Eight Point Spread and Betting
The winner of this game will face either No. 4 UConn or No. 3 Gonzaga. Miami has never reached the Final Four, although it is their second consecutive year in the Elite Eight. The Longhorns last reached the Final Four in 2003 and this their first appearance in the Elite Eight since 2008.
The Hurricanes dispatched No. 12 Drake, No. 4 Indiana and No. 1 Houston through three rounds of the tournament, going a perfect 3-0 against the spread in the process. They’re now 6-1 ATS in their last seven NCAA Tournament games. Miami is +1177 to win the tournament, the second-longest odds of all Elite Eight teams.
Texas reached the Elite Eight by taking out No. 15 Colgate, No. 10 Penn State and No. 3 Xavier. They’re 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight games overall, with one push as five-point favourites against Penn State. The Longhorns are now the tournament favourites at +275.
These teams have faced each other once all-time. Texas slipped by Miami 75-72 in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
Miami Hurricanes (5)
Miami rolled through Houston on Friday night, blowing out the Cougars 89-75. Five different players finished in double digit point totals. Nijel Pack had a game-high 26 points, largely thanks to hitting a season-high seven three-pointers on 10 attempts. Isaiah Wong finished with 20 points and Norchad Omier dominated in the paint with a game-high 13 rebounds. The Hurricanes were just the fifth team this season to put up more than 70 points against Houston. Miami’s offence averages 79.4 points per game, ranking 21st in the nation.
Texas Longhorns (2)
Texas reached the Elite Eight by rolling through Xavier 83-71. Five players finished with double digit points, including Tyrese Hunter, who had a team-high 19. Christian Bishop and Marcus Carr finished with 18 points each, while Bishop added nine rebounds. Big man Dylan Disu left two minutes into the game. Disu, who was a dominating presence in the first two games of the tournament, hurt his foot in the win over Penn State. It hasn’t been announced if Disu will play on Sunday, but it seems unlikely.
