Yale vs. San Diego State NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
The winner of this game will face either No. 1 UConn or No. 9 Northwestern in the Sweet 16. Yale has never reached the Sweet 16 and only has two total wins in NCAA Tournament history. San Diego State has reached the Sweet 16 three times, including last year when they eventually lost to UConn in the national championship game.
The Bulldogs are 23-9 straight up this season, including 5-1 SU in neutral site games. They’ve been a great cover for most of the year, going 14-5 against the spread in their last 19 games. High scoring games have been a trend for Yale lately as the Over has hit in five of their last seven.
The Aztecs are 25-10 SU overall, including 5-1 SU in neutral site games. They haven’t been a good option for bettors, however, as they have failed to cover in six of their last seven games. San Diego State is a lower scoring team, with the total going Under in eight of their last 12 games.
Yale Bulldogs (13)
Yale stunned No. 4 Auburn 78-76 in the first round on Friday. It was a gritty come-from-behind win, with the Bulldogs trailing by 10 points midway through the second half. John Poulakidas had a monster performance, finishing with a game-high 28 points. August Mahoney added 14 points and Danny Wolf finished with 13. Wolf has been Yale’s most productive player this season, averaging team-highs in points (14.3), rebounds (9.7) and blocks (1.4). Over their last 10 games, the Bulldogs are averaging 73.4 ppg while shooting 47.8 per cent from the field and allowing 67.0 ppg.
San Diego State Aztecs (5)
San Diego State was locked in a back-and-forth battle with UAB in the first round, but eventually managed to dump the Blazers 69-65. Leading scorer Jaedon LeDee came up clutch again, dropping a game-high 32 points and eight rebounds. Lamont Butler put up 15 points, but it’s a little concerning that no other Aztecs player scored more than six points. LeDee has been key to San Diego State’s success all season as he is the 10th highest scorer in the nation with 21.4 ppg. Over their last 10 games, the Aztecs are averaging 71.4 ppg while shooting 41.7 per cent from the field and allowing 65.8 ppg.
