The Ramblers advanced to the second week of March Madness for the second time in the last three tournaments. And once again, Sister Jean is cheering them on. The Beavers are not only in their first Sweet Sixteen since 1982, but also have their first tournament win since then.

Tip-off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse is 2:40 p.m. EST.

Oregon State vs. Loyola-Chicago NCAA Sweet 16 Point Spread and Betting

Oddsmakers have Loyola as a 6.5-point favourite Saturday, which is a large amount to cover against an Oregon State team that’s 12-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 13. The Ramblers are on a 5-0 ATS run themselves, along with an eight-game win streak.

An over-under of 125.5 is the lowest of all eight games this round, but is warranted after the Ramblers held No. 1 seed Illinois to 58 points on Sunday — which was just above their opponents’ average points per game this season (55.8). The Beavers got into a second-half shootout with Oklahoma State last Sunday night, but also held No. 5 Tennessee to 56 points in their tournament-opening dub. Each team has gone over and under once in the tournament.

Oregon State Beavers

Senior guard Ethan Thompson has been productive in every way for the Beavers. Last Friday against Tennessee, Thompson put up 13 points to go with 10 rebounds and six assists. Then last Sunday he showcased clutch shooting from the line by hitting 15 of 16 free throws for a game-high 26 points to go with seven boards.

Oregon State’s held both their March Madness opponents to under 34 per cent shooting from the field and under 28 per cent from the arc. They’ve outrebounded their opponents 93-66, thanks in large part to Thompson and 7’1 centre Roman Silva. The big man averaged 2.8 rebounds a game this season, but has 16 through two tournament games along with 11.5 points per contest.

Loyola-Chicago Ramblers

The Ramblers came out on top over the Fighting Illini in a battle down low last Sunday. Senior centre Cameron Krutwig had a career day, scoring a team-high 19 to go with 12 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Krutwig’s hit double-digit points in 13 of his last 14 appearances.

Loyola’s elite defence has given up just seven three-pointers in the tournament, and as a team they are out-rebounding their March Madness opponents 60-44. On offence, senior guard Lucas Williamson has scored 35 on four-of-nine three-point shooting in two games, while sophomore Braden Norris is averaging 12.5 points and six rebounds while shooting 55 per cent from deep this tournament.
