The top-seeded Baylor Bears cruised to a first-round victory on Friday and it appears like they’ve left a lot of meat on the bone for Sunday’s matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin surprised just about everyone by smoking North Carolina and snapping a slump that had the club drop six of its last eight.

Baylor opened at -6.5 and that line has dipped to -6 with the total holding steady at 138. So far, better than 80 per cent of points spread wagers are backing the Bears. If that holds, this line may grow before the tip.

The Badgers are fresh off sending Roy Williams home in the first round for the first time in his career, so this isn’t a team to be taken lightly. They played a nearly perfect game on Friday, hitting from outside, knocking down free throws, and beating the Tar Heels on the glass. Wisconsin is a team that has a history of knocking off top seeds, but they’ll really need Brad Davidson and D’Mitrik Trice to light it up. Davidson erupted for 29 points on Friday while Trice added 22.

Baylor’s first-round win showed that this team is good enough to cruise through a lot of squads even when they don’t have their “A-game.” The Bears took a 16-point lead into the half against Hartford and coasted a bit in the second half to win 79-55, failing to cover the big 25.5-point spread. Jared Butler had a quiet night with just 13 points on 5-of-16 shooting, but don’t count on that happening again. Baylor will look to push the pace against the Badgers, but the Bears are comfortable in a lock-down defensive battle too. We haven’t seen the best of this team yet.
